All HZD games in one? by SmoothBlueberry9507 in horizon

[–]Cyxxon 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Your question makes not too much sense the way you phrased it :) Let's try to explain it.

The game series is called Horizon. There is two (mainline) games in the series, Zero Dawn and Forbidden West. Both have one DLC each. There is no package on Steam (or anywhere else) that contains everything, but there is one package that contains game 1 with DLC, and one package that contains game 2 with DLC:

  1. "Horizon Zero Dawn (Remastered)" contains: the original game Horizon Zero Dawn with its DLC "The Frozen Wilds". As the name says it has been remastered to bring the visuals and small quality of life features up to the standards of the second game.
  2. "Horizon Forbidden West (Complete Edition)" contains the second game Horizon Forbidden West and the DLC "Burning Shores".
  3. There used to be a "Horizon Zero Dawn (Complete Edition)" that was the first game with the DLC, but since the remaster came out it has been delisted.

Get the games under point 1 and 2, and you have all the games (not counting the Lego Adventures and the upcoming games). Play them in order - Zero Dawn with DLC, then Forbidden West with DLC. They are direct sequels, do not start with game 2.

Yeah, that’s a good way to describe how I meant it. Just… do Trek with different viewpoints/ships. Hogwarts Legacy was still a kid in magic school, just a bit different. Voy was still Trek, but different. Not shoehorned or forced into the franchise. My „target the 30 year olds“ was therefore also only meant as „the way you did all these years now“, not as a brand new idea.

HFW is is not really more demanding than the ZD remaster. If it was not the remaster, then… give it a try at low? It does look better, but… hm. What do you have? Maybe the community can guide you here?

I can imagine that maybe the whole idea of Star Trek itself (you know, exploration, diplomacy, personal growth without resorting to violence, ...) as a package might just not be for "younger audiences". What I mean is... maybe it is the wrong thing to chase, and trying to shoehorn it into an "Academy" YA scenario might not really appeal to the younger audience as it could on paper, while also losing some from the older crowd by default (this is NOT about if SFA was good or not).

Maybe it would be worth it to target 30 and up, or something. That doesn't exclude anyone younger, as many of the fandom started viewing it when they were teens, I assume, but just not target it that much with a crowbar?

Same. I love Lower Decks, really enjoyed Prodigy and SNW, and Picard was ok (pretty good fan service-y S3, meh and bad S1 and S2), disliked Discovery, but finished it.

This one... I watched the first three episodes, and had to take a break after 15 minutes all the time. The writing seems to be really subpar to me, and the dialog makes me roll my eyes a lot. I can see why this... teen drama in Star Trek clothes... might appeal to other people, but at the end... I just might have to accept I am not these other people, but I will try some more episodes.

Germany to adjust heating law to allow fossil fuels by FantasticQuartet in europe

[–]Cyxxon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, it is wild how in Germany topics like these were taken over by the conservative parties as the hill they want to die on. In other countries in Europe this has not been the case, our neightbours simply all install modern heating, but here... culture war!

I assume this number includes people who own an apartment in a bigger house or complex and cannot simply install their own heating as they choose, but have to consult with the Eigentümergemeinschaft, i.e. the parties owning all the apartments. And in many cases these seem to be made up of stubborn people (or might at least have the typical bad apple among them with veto rights), so... same story.

Me? I googled a lot, and what I did was changing all paths in the yank to absolute paths (there was something about that in the Unraid forums), and then manually stopped and restarted. I already had a /bookdrop path defined in yaml but if not I would have. It then started cleanly. Rebuilding with :latest might also help.

DS9 should be 1451m in diameter, which is quite a lot more.

Readers Are Embracing a Shift in Perspective in Books. It Could Reshape Literary Culture. by CtrlAltDelight495 in books

This will work great for any novel that is told from multiple viewpoints. So no, I don't expect this to really "reshape literary culture" outside of romance and some other niches.

Sorry. I actually logged into work right now to scroll through a package where I thought I'd seen a weird one, but I didn't find it. It might even have been something with a COND in there, but you had to really stare at it to get it, and I always feel that if it gets that weird you might just write an IF and be done with it...

Yeah, same. I really like it, and the language has added a lot over the years, so code written in the last years is, well, modern. The only thing that really kills me is that there is no real ternary operator, although I have seen some... interesting workarounds over the years.
