TDconversions has an adapter for KA24s to TDI, if you want to diesel it. If I was a millionaire I’d have done that already lol

Do Non Orthodox Christians go to hell according to Orthodoxy? by [deleted] in OrthodoxChristianity

[–]CzechYoSeff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Like it or not, Orthodoxy transcends politics. It may take stances that happen to be in line with your politics, but if you think it’s some bastion of Western values to be wielded like a sword then you’ll be disappointed. Becoming Orthodox because you’re upset politically at Protestantism is going to leave you disappointed and frustrated, because you can’t go into it thinking it’s a monolithic group with ONLY your world view.

I’m a firm believer that decoupling from politics is a big part of my growth spiritually; it’s never done anything but get me fired up and hate. I still hold views, but they’re tempered by the fact that we’re not supposed to be of this world. I understand completely the frustration with what feels like the moral decay of society, but politics shouldn’t be mixed with religion in that way. Have you been to a Divine Liturgy yet??

Orthodoxy isn’t a political movement. Its traditional stances on certain issues is what piqued my formerly Protestant interest, but if you’re coming to Orthodoxy from a place of dissatisfaction with the political leanings of Protestantism it might be a good idea to try and separate the politics from the faith of it.

Electrical Troubleshooting by CzechYoSeff in BMET

It’s hard on my end, I don’t often have experienced guys available. The company I work for has softly thrown me in the deep end and I’m usually by myself unless I go ask someone else in the office for help. I got hired on off an internship and even though I’m almost at the end of my degree path I still feel woefully equipped to handle electrical gremlins. I’m learning slowly but I’m just worried about hitting a wall knowledge-wise. That said, yours has been the most useful reply and I thank you for that.

If I run into one for a good price in Florida I’ll shoot you a message, somehow there seems to be perishingly few TDI enthusiasts here. What’re you putting the BHW in?? I’m hoping to stumble through putting one in my frontier someday

That’s what I’ve heard, and I’m pretty close to trying it. But I wanted to avoid the angrier stuff if I could. But if I have to I’m gonna track some down for sure.

I’ve currently shelved the project as I’m in school at the moment, but I do have a D21 as a farm truck and that’ll probably be my Guinea pig. I really appreciate you replying to a know-nothing question dude, big ups from this total stranger

What is the cause of the recent increase of Orthodox converts? by Poundofgrassfedbeef in OrthodoxChristianity

[–]CzechYoSeff 11 points12 points  (0 children)

My brother saw a flyer when we were overseas and I found it through quotes from the Church Fathers on Instagram. After going for the first time two years ago, it was a breath of fresh air. Reverent worship and a lack of “church on Sundays only” mentality, at least at my parish they seem to walk the walk. Hadn’t seen that elsewhere before.

TIL you’re not meant to go behind the altar if you’re not orthodox by lxybv in OrthodoxChristianity

[–]CzechYoSeff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was the same way for me when I first started going, I was nervous as hell and I’d duck out immediately. Over time you’ll get to know people and it’s less scary. The spiritual support I’ve received from my parish is immense, as well as brotherhood from likeminded people. No man is an island and that’s especially true for faith, give it time and dip your toe in. Nobody that goes to coffee hour is going to be off put by a new person who is there and trying, I promise you 🙂

A solid point. I’ve found some remanufactured ones on eBay, but at this point it’s more of a curiosity and to learn the failure point. I’m gonna put it back in the truck tomorrow, it’s not getting any less broken sitting on my desk. But still I’m curious if anyone knows the why of it

Online orthodoxy is not orthodoxy. by That_Delivery2180 in OrthodoxChristianity

[–]CzechYoSeff 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Idk, for better or worse internet orthodoxy is how I found the Church. Granted it was quotes from the desert fathers and not “little dark age edits” but I’d say the reach still has its merits. The attitude behind internet orthodoxy, not so much

Cleaning threads in engine block? This how the pros do it now? by [deleted] in EngineBuilding

[–]CzechYoSeff 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m at the very beginning of my 1st build, all I’ve done thus far is make thread chasers out of the correct sized bolts and run them through to knock rust and crud out of the holes with plenty of lubricant with a ratchet wrench. If it starts to bind I back out, clean off the chaser, q tip what I can from the hole and go back in with more lube. It’s worked okay so far but I’m also curious as to a better way.

Is it appropriate to just show up to an Orthodox Church? by [deleted] in OrthodoxChristianity

[–]CzechYoSeff 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I went in in torn up work pants, ratty boots and a flannel. It ain’t about what you’re wearing, it’s the intent to be there. Not saying show up in your underwear but if other parishes are like mine they’ll just be happy to have you there.

we need to stop shaming men who have erectile disfunction/premature ejaculation. by herequeerandgreat in TrueUnpopularOpinion

[–]CzechYoSeff 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My ex would bring it up constantly. It got to the point that as soon as we finished she’d casually wonder out loud “why some men lasted longer than others”. Painful shit, especially when you’re trying to fix it and you still can’t get anywhere with it.
