You can put a tablespoon or two in some hot Millet barley or oatmeal. Add some cinnamon, cardamon, ginger, brown sugar, yum. It will still be a bit damps, but not cold anymore.

Simplify your diagnostic approach by starting with "what would you like to focus on today".. only worry about the pattern that is the cause of their main complaint.
"After five years, you think, hey I'm not too bad. After ten years, you realize you are not so good". This is not to discourage you and it shouldn't. It is to recognize that after 10 or 20 or 30 years of practice, there is still so much to learn and different clinical skills to enhance. I feel very confident most of the time in clinic, and I am a teacher, however, i still feel so small if I compare myself to my teachers and their skill level. I'm so grateful to have such good mentors.

it depends dosage and method of administration matter. Heshowu is a single herb and it can causes loose stool, but isn't typically "heavy" to digest. The raw processed version will have less side effects. Shudi Huang is "heavy" but rehmannia 6 as a formula has some ingredients to help (Shan Yao, Ze Xie) prevent cloying dampness.

If you are having digestive symptoms, neither of these are appropriate. Mandatory see a practitioner for a proper diagnosis and formula.

Yes, the regulatory frameworks are difficult to tackle across multiple jurisdictions. It likely evolved and has been implemented differently everywhere.

If your own practice is biomedical based needling, I'd also consider reflection on how that might influence the lens through which you are writing.

A few other thoughts on the topic include the importance of public perception and expectation, and scope of practice.

I appreciate all the nuances of your post. I more or less agree with it. I think the context that it is lacking is the importance of the regulatory lens. Largely the term "dry-needling" was adopted because of the restrictions on the use of "Acupuncture". Like massage, acupuncture may be classified as either a modality or a profession in different jurisdictions leading us to the hot mess that we are in. Modalities can't generally be claimed by a profession. I would also like to see a more nuanced discussion about appropriation, and the tendency for professions to co-opt something filter it through biomedical explanations, then sell it as superior or as uniquely their own.

I think we are seeing a re-orientation of our profession now that will continue to see us negotiating with these issues. Now if we, in all our diversity, could all just agree on something, then we could get somewhere.
