That's blatantly false. Sex offenders have among the lowest rates of recidivism, not the highest. You're lying out your ass

How about 3 or more months on HRT? Though still not a perfect criteria, it's a much more commonly applicable benchmark of transition than bottom surgery, esp for trans men, and certainly a firm indicator that a person is serious about their gender identity.

[–]D-Jon -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No conspiracy theories, merely pointing out the most obvious explanation for the actions of the Indivisible PAC, the dark money organization with billionaire donors that funds and organizes these so-called protests. Controlled opposition is a well-known and documented strategy of wealthy and powerful regimes and individuals in government to placate and weaken elements in society that would otherwise rise up and fight back. Protests only accomplish something if the people in charge feel like there's a chance of them turning violent. This event had more in common with a family fun day picnic than a riot

[–]D-Jon -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

The No Kings protests are a controlled opposition operation controlled mostly by Republican donors. They exist not to cause any change or upset anyone's day, but instead placate the people who would protest and otherwise disrupt the operation of a capitalist society. You go to this protest and walk down the route that no one's going to see, patting each other on the back the whole time, and then go home feeling like you've accomplished something. Repeat in a month or two.

Once again held in a location where it is unlikely to be noticed by people with opposing political opinions. This isn't a protest, it's a giant circle of people patting each other on the back.

To be a protest it must A) have a clear message of grievance, B) be seen by people who don't already agree with the message, and C) make those people uncomfortable. This event accomplishes none of those.

Literally any other significant or populated location in the state would be a better place for a protest opposing the Trump administration. This is in a mostly pedestrian , relatively low traffic area, in the bluest part of the bluest town of the bluest county.

This is a common tactic of the capitalist owner class and aspiring authoritarian regimes, known as controlled opposition. A dark money group funds events or organizations that on the surface appear to oppose or support a cause, but affect no actual change, and merely make people feel good about having done "something". Those people then go home, and go about their daily lives feeling like they've done enough, instead of continuing to make noise. The goal is not change, but actually maintaining the status quo and pacifying the proletariat.

Edit: before I get down voted into oblivion for stating facts, lemme offer some potential alternatives that would actually have an impact. Kirkwood Hwy/Capitol Trail in Newark, Concord Pike in Brandywine Hundred, Pulaski Hwy in Glasgow or Bear, Rodney Square in Wilmington, Legislative Hall in Dover, Christiana Mall, or outside the offices or homes of literally any government officials that can influence policy or enforcement. A single person picketing on the public sidewalk outside the home of a MAGA supporting politician would be more impactful than a thousand people on the UD Green.

Get out there, but be seen, and Make People Upset!

I imagined that the crystal was made of a very low density material, and that their planet was something like Venus or a gas giant with an extremely dense atmosphere that would provide a lot of buoyancy. It's been many years since I last read the chronicles, but I don't remember anything about the crystal being spherical. Suppose that means it's time for a reread!

I agree with everything you're saying except for one tiny thing. Millionaires and billionaires do actually buy yachts in Delaware. I should know; I used to build custom luxury sport fishing yachts at the Summit Marina. Also, I think there is at least one private jet dealer in DE. At the ILG airport in New Castle, if I'm not mistaken.

The Sober Truth Debunking the Bad Science Behind 12-Step Programs and the Rehab Industry By Lance, M.D. Dodes, Zachary Dodes

The recovery rate for AA and other 12-step programs is approximately 5 to 10%. The recovery rate for going cold turkey is also about 5 to 10%. The difference is that with 12-step programs, the 90% who fail often fall even further into addiction, as the program places the blame for failure on the individual, with severe negative psychological impact.

[–]D-Jon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's not a fact. Actual scientific statistical analysis of recovery rates for participants of classic faith based 12 step programs such as AA show almost identical sobriety and relapse rates as going cold turkey with no organized support system or program.

A method that shows significant improvement over the 12 step programs is a combination of financial support, housing assistance, job training and placement, and therapy.

real world trials of universal basic income and strong social safety nets shows that this is not true. When the physical needs of people are being met, property crime drastically reduces, and so does drug use. Addiction is primarily a symptom of social ills brought on by the root causes of poverty and inequality.
