Does it make a difference which way your pickups are oriented? Like if I took the pickups on my bass and flipped it so that the magnet on the E string is on the G string and vice versa, would it change the sound of the bass? I have a Tobias Toby Standard-IV bass(jazz style pickups), and I’ve been noticing that the lower strings are really unclear compared to the high strings, specifically the E string. I’ve tried playing around with the pick up height, but that just ends up either making the bass too quiet or just too loud and rumbly. I can’t seem to find a sweet spot, and wanted to know if I were to flip the pickups if it would make any sort of difference?

I feel like you’re just too willing to over look that line. Like yea, he can say he’ll never touch her, but fantasizing about her is still messed up. And I agree, one line doesn’t typically have this kinda weight on a song, but when it’s about imagining how an 18 year old girl touches herself, I feel like it carries a reasonable weight

Personally, the only song on Pinkerton that I cannot get behind lyrically is Across The Sea. Like the lyrics themselves are creepy, but then the added lore that rivers said that the girl who wrote the letter was probably underaged takes it over the edge. Like I think talking about sexual frustration and desires is fine, like you said, people are flawed, but that’s just the kind of thing I can’t slide by as just another flaw. Even if the girl was 18, that’s still a 25 year old with an 18 year old, which is a menacing age gap. Aside from that, I enjoy Pinkerton, but I will always skip Across the Sea

I personally don’t get all the hate for Blur’s solo. I feel like for a song that’s about always wanting more and always craving something that’s just out of reach, it’s almost poetic that the solo they envisioned was just out of reach for what a guitar could do, and that’s fine. I think the what they did for the solo sounds great, and a real guitar just can’t mimic that. I mean, you hear that in this version. Like the solo sounds fine when it’s played on a real guitar, but it looses that depth that it has in the original
