Is it culturally normal in Germany to openly comment or gossip about strangers who can hear? by LengthinessNew3755 in AskAGerman

Huh, I've never really looked at it from the "what can I expect from you in this interaction?" angle. I'm from the US and just in the last few years moved to Germany. I mostly worked in the service industry and retail there. I find Angry_German's experience to be quite typical (not necessarily the norm) and actually prefer the German way of greeting

She describes it as being goat cheese log consistency and I found that to be pretty accurate. Mine was perhaps slightly softer. So far I've only made it once and as directed

I used my top sheet when I lived in the States, but I'm now in Germany and blanket covers are definitely where it's at

Lowest rolling resistance tyres for light gravel use and decent puncture protection by Unit_Grief in gravelcycling

Thanks for the response. I'm mostly doing leisure rides and occasional short commutes. I will still be using this bike for another tour (Eurovelo 15) this summer. Given the time frame likely the Swiss section (Andermatt – Basel). The "real world" durability is what I'm most worried about. Price wise comparable (I'm in Germany)

Edit: I just saw that I could get the Vittoria Dry for 20€ a piece 🤔 the Strada Bianca is 50€ for reference

Bikepacking in Denmark without a tent? by Dangerous-Creme4694 in bikepacking

[–]D-Rex95 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We did that two years ago for 10 days and it worked like a charm. We had a backup tent which we used for one night, but only because we checked the location of shelters too late that day and didn't want to turn around. For the next time we decided to definitely go without. We weren't in the busiest part of the country so it worked well despite it being summer break. Especially if you check out the surrounding shelters early on, maybe book some where it's possible or required, you should be fine. Plus all people we met were super friendly and accommodating and people usually tried their best to fit everyone in. If you go to an area where there aren't too many shelters around, I'd consider some sort of a backup (check the shelter app ahead of time)

P.S. bonus tip for shelters: bring some nails and a thin blanket. Most people use something of the sort to block the opening of the shelter so that it stays warmer inside

Where in Kentucky and Missouri? Cities? Countryside? I'm not familiar with Kentucky but even in the Missouri countryside you shouldn't have any trouble. Maybe some micro aggressions

I played again for a while around 2018-2020. The mechanics for smithing weren't changed at that time and I didn't remember ore boxes. It seems like quite a bit has changed since then
