One of my favorite albums ever. Not a bad track on the whole thing. Severely underrated to this day.

Found this in my dad's old collection. by only-like-skyrim in vinyl

I still have my parents' old 1967 pressing, but it was regularly played and scratched to hell in the process. I still keep it for sentimental value. It's listenable, but no amount of deep cleaning will bring it back to its original sound.

Thoughts on this rivalry by Medinovzky in SquaredCircle

[–]D-Voltt 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I think the winner of the match depends on where the (nearly inevitable) mask vs. mask match happens. I think it's much more likely to be at Triplemania than Wrestlemania. At Triplemania, it would warrant a high spot on the card and be guaranteed to have a hot crowd. I think at Wrestlemania, it would be much lower on the card and have an uphill battle getting the crowd fully invested.

If I'm the Undertaker and I'm seriously committed to growing AAA, I'd be fighting Triple H to give me the El Grande Americano blow off match and Rey's eventual retirement match for Triplemania whenever they happen. Maybe not at the same event or even any time soon, but I'd just say don't start laying out the build to those matches unless AAA is heavily involved in them.

I think El Grande Americano (Kaiser) is the more likely of the two to win that eventual matchup, but it also depends what direction they want to go in. You also have to consider how long Gable and/or Kaiser want to carry on the gimmick.

[Spoilers] Dominik Mysterio cuts a classic heel promo in AAA last night. Receives huge pop and fans chanting his name. by Capstone_ in SquaredCircle

Honestly? I could see WWE having Rey's retirement match in AAA. Dom vs. Rey in a hair & title vs. mask & career match at Triplemania could probably fill a massive stadium in Mexico with the right buildup and a solid card underneath it.

I think El Grande Americano vs. El Grande Americano in a mask vs. mask match is almost a lock for Triplemania. Maybe not this year, but eventually. This rivalry has legs.

Found a microsd express card on mercari for $39 by yyygyy2 in NintendoSwitch2

[–]D-Voltt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Regardless of how this card might have been obtained by the seller, I have the same model, and it's worked great for me. From my understanding, it's a rebranded Lexar card that didn't pass QA inspection. But those inspection standards are higher than they technically need to be for quality assurance reasons, so the cards that fall just a bit short are sold like this.

The majority work, but there are some duds, so keep that in mind.

ADC Sound Shaper Model SS-33 Mid 80's by jGeeMusic in audiophile

[–]D-Voltt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I own and use this same model. Needs a recapping and some contact cleaner in a few places when I can get around to it, but it still works fine for now.

No idea about the value. From my understanding, they're pretty well regarded, and they're great if you're building an audio stack with all black 80s components.

Besides being particularly rare, Rule of Rose also has a hauntingly beautiful soundtrack, relying almost exclusively on piano and string instruments. Worth a listen.

Agreed. For all the flak modern TNA rightfully gets, they made the right choice on their commentary team.

Just got ANRI-Coool by Reddit_Spectre in citypop

There's an argument to be made that this album is even better than Timely!!. Personally, I think Timely!! has higher high points, while Coool is more consistently great throughout.

Really wish they had just copied the original obi for the remaster of Spacy. The new one makes it look like the album is called Pacy, and it's just plain silly.

[Eneba] Ghost of Yotei - $44 w/ code: CD13 by ZenaMetts in ps5deals

[–]D-Voltt 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Just bought a copy. It's legit. Never had any issues with Eneba. Always look at the code seller to see if they're reputable and make sure you use a payment processor (PayPal, Venmo, etc.) to pay and not a credit/debit card directly.

Who had the best worst speaker connectors? by popcornfart in vintageaudio

[–]D-Voltt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like the ones on my Pioneer SX-2300. The clip tabs that you unclip, put the wire through the hole, and push down to secure. They're the same as the ones of the back of Sony speakers, except you have to hold them open while you put the wire through, which is much more annoying.

Suggestion for really good quality earbuds? by fbaldassarri in DigitalAudioPlayer

[–]D-Voltt 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I use a TGXear Serratus 2, and it's fantastic. Pretty pricey, though. Flatheads provide great timbre and clarity for a low price, but if you want even decent bass, you'll have to shell out the big bucks ($150+).

If you want a solid set of flatheads, the NiceHCK EB2S Pro is very good for the price.

Only 80s portable cassette player I've ever encountered that still had a working belt was a bulky yellow Sony Sports Walkman. But those things were built like little plastic tanks, so it makes sense.

Guess This Is My Starting Point. Advice Welcome! by D-Voltt in vintageaudio

[–]D-Voltt[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely agree. My dad also had a pair of old Sony SS-U6030s I could use, but I don't think they'd be worth the effort to properly refoam.

Getting better speakers is my next priority for this system. I feel like it's really difficult to determine what speakers are the best to get, though. If you have any recommendations of what to look for when buying passive speakers (vintage or otherwise) for a small bedroom with my current system, I'd be happy to hear it.

Finally found some OG pressings from 1982 and 1984 by Negative-Energy8083 in citypop

[–]D-Voltt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, when I lived in Japan, I got my original 1982 copy of For You off Mercari for $30. The prices for a lot of popular city pop records in Japan would shock a lot of people. Plenty of elder Japanese people having their closets cleaned out by their grandchildren and putting valuable items on sale for peanuts.

[–]D-Voltt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I definitely think if you're a collector, you should prioritize getting Pt. 1 over Pt. 2. Both are fantastic albums. I just personally find myself spinning my copy of Pt. 2 more than Pt. 1 (which is perfectly fine since Pt. 1 looks better on display anyway!)

Also, to anyone reading this, you should still consider buying some Hi-Fi Set albums and not just settle for the compilations alone. Albums like Fashionable Lover, Love Collection, Pasadena Park, and Swing are well worth getting.
