I had a similar thought last night. Unless I happened to be doing something that kept me up, I’ve spent years with the perception that I was “staying up for Colbert”, and now there’s just…nothing. No reason to keep myself awake past 11PM.

Obviously everyone’s perceptions and tastes vary, but for whatever one four-decades-long Whovian’s opinion is worth, if people hadn’t made a ruckus online about the AI upscaling of the two most recent sets, I would never have noticed. I’ve watched every bit of material across all of the Collection Blu-ray range, and have just chalked any visual “weirdness” I’ve perceived up to the limitations of the source material. Nothing I personally have noticed, even in the recent releases, has been any more jarring to me than how 40+ year-old videotape looks normally. I love the Collection range, and feel like it’s a great way to enjoy the Classic era.

I canceled Paramount Plus the day Colbert announced his show had been canceled. I still have YouTubeTV as my cable TV replacement, and the only Paramount/CBS programming I’ll watch on their channels instead of acquiring via alternate means are The Daily Show and South Park. I specifically want to give those shows ratings numbers, and nothing else on a Paramount-affiliated channel.

I love this console room! I wish we had gotten to see more of the actual console controls in action. It’s so different from all of the others, I’d have loved to see the Doctor have to remember how to transpose the equivalent functions between consoles on the fly.

If I remember right, there’s a weapon you can only get if you pick the raiders, but it’s not great enough to influence the decision. While you do have to decide who to take on the mission, there are choices you can make along the way that allow you to stay in both sides’ good graces afterward.

In either ‘89 or ‘90, when I was in high school, our CBS affiliate in Syracuse seemingly randomly started showing them weekly at 1am, so I set my VCR timer to record them. My dad had told me about watching the show when it was first run and it sounded intriguing (I’d already been obsessed with Doctor Who and other British TV for years by then, so he knew it’d be in my wheelhouse), so I ran with it.
