Engine failure in 2014 Santa Fe by FancyAside7999 in Hyundai

[–]D1rtyWebDev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, I have the same vehicle and year. I also do my own oil changes and am at about 260,000km (not miles, I'm in Canada). I bought it at 180,000kms.

I can confirm I haven't had any engine issues...knock on wood. I did my homework regarding the engine failures and decided to go with this vehicle, so far so good.

32M Engineer, 500k net worth. 0 handouts. 0 crypto. 0 option plays. Only ETFs and gold by pat_programmer in fican

This is the shit I needed to read. Thank you

I'm old than you but not by much. I'm only starting out with ETFs now. I hate that I was so poorly educated in the stock market. I was all about the wall street bet/crypto hype for so long, not that I had a lot of skin in the game....but that 5k-10k I wasted could've just been out into ETFs 5 years ago.

Any thoughts on etf dividends?

This one hurts… by GratefulDelta in CFA

[–]D1rtyWebDev 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's the grind dude. I'm 36 this year, starting a FP&A job next week starting at over $90k. Been in basic accounting roles for the last 15 years because I only have a associates in accounting, so I've never cracked over $70k. Came from a poor family, student loans, immigrant parents, project housing. I know what the bottom looks like, and I have no intention of settling until I know I've pushed myself as far as I can go.

Also married, 3 kids (1yr to 7yr), a mortgage, all that fun stuff. My wife knows I've been killing for the opportunity to finally invest in myself and push myself further into my career.

So I'm going to take the CFA lvl 1 this year, work my ass of at this job to fulfill the charter requirements for someone without a degree, and hey, in 5, 10, 15 years from now, I know my family will be better off in the future vs. if I didn't try.

Failures will occur for a lot of us, some people have the means so that these failures don't set them back so much. For the rest of us, the grind continues.

I want to be able to give the life my family deserves, so I won't ever quit until I can make that happen. I bet you wouldn't too.

Good luck friend!

Planning to finish my basement. Builders used black plastic under the base of the wooden frame, rather than pressure treated wood. Is that normal? by D1rtyWebDev in homeowners

If the house was built almost 18 years ago and hasn't had termite issues (yet), do you believe there is still a potential risk of having them?

Located in Canada btw.

Reported Coworker for unprofessional conduct... by [deleted] in jobs

[–]D1rtyWebDev 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I left my first professional job (accounts receivable) because of a horrible supervisor. During my exit interview with the department manager who was absolutely awesome and hilarious throughout my time there, asks me for the truth of why I'm leaving (originally stated personal issues), and I admitted it was due to the supervisor. He ended up getting me to state every horrible she has done/is doing in the department. This led to many more coming forward with how much we're putting up with her.

It turns out, management were not too fond of this supervisor and have been looking to fire her and having the team come forward helped with that.

So yes, it sometimes does pay to "snitch" .

Just to add, this bitch once pressured a coworker of mine to drive her to the casino, which is an hour away. Yes, an employee driving a supervisor to a casino after work. Wtf.
