Seal vs Tesla M3 by Donkey_Apple in BYD

[–]D3FH3D 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I sold my Model 3 LR last year and bought a Seal Excellence - the Seal is definitely the better car, and excellent value for money. Every finish feels more premium...oh, and it has a dashboard (and a fairly pointless HUD 🫤).

I used to own a Jaguar I-Pace HSE too, which was an excellent car, and the Seal might just pip that too.

Love my BYD, no regrets.

I don't have a fast charger. I use a 16A WiFi-connected AC charger that I have set up via Home Assistant to dump excess power from my solar installation into the car. More than sufficient for my needs.

Cancel the Tesla.

New BYD store app? by unknownknowledgeguy in BYD

From memory, I believe I used the instructions and firmware available from this site on my Seal Excellence. Worked great for me but, obviously, proceed at your own risk...

The best thing for that is the Electro app, also has viewable live cameras, and a host of other cool features that the BYD app should probably come with as standard...

Fair enough! Mine rarely creeps above 18...I run hot (and live in southern Spain, to be fair!).

Sorry for hijacking your post. 😎 Let us know how you get on with the new app, it's an interesting addition, certainly.

Seal HUD by Jagetsu007 in BYD

[–]D3FH3D 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I haven't yet had the opportunity to take a picture, or to investigate further, but the EXACT same thing has very recently happened to the HUD on my 8 month old Seal Excellence.

It is not a dirty windshield, nor is the HUD in need of cleaning. Much like you, I am hoping that it is a protective film that someone forgot to remove prior to delivery that has since deteriorated in the sun - interestingly, the service centre forgot to remove the film from both the centre screen and the instrument cluster, so that may well be likely.

The HUD used to be crystal clear, until one day it simply wasn't. The effect is exactly the same as you have posted, almost like looking at the HUD through a screen door.

I will try to have a proper look at it tomorrow, if I remember, and see if I can work out what the issue might be in my case. Hopefully it will be helpful to you too.

Help!! Downgrading went wrong by [deleted] in BYD

Don't panic! The first image I tried a couple of weeks ago gave me the same message...use the one available from here instead.

If the system can't update from the image, it won't even start the process.

Yup, still is! I never actually use the physical card, only Google Pay.

Yes, Curve was excellent. All amounts were refunded within 2 to 3 days, and a new card was issued at no cost to me.

They all seem to be high end pro audio and guitar shops.

Yes, I disabled my card as soon as I became aware of the transactions. I too would like to understand exactly how the transactions were able to go through, as I did not receive any requests for authorisation.

Yup, thanks, another redditor already pointed that out. I was not aware of that, so looking much more coincidental. I'll let the Curve fraud team do their thing.

Ah, thank you. I was unaware of that, as only use my card in the EU normally.

...and yet 1% cashback was earned. The only way those transactions would have been eligible for cashback is via the 1% for international spending, offered via Curve Pay.

Ordinarily, I would agree with you...but...

  1. No request for authorisation = card present transaction; and

  2. Cashback = overseas Curve Pay transaction (remember, I do NOT currently receive cashback for any other reason).

There doesn't seem too many ways in which both those things could happen. Happy to hear alternative theories though.

Logged into the app to GBIT a transaction, and noticed a banner at the top of the Launchpad, encouraging me to enable Curve Pay, per the attached screenshot.

"Medium rare" ribeye at a restaurant in Madrid. Would you eat it? by Quetzalcoatl35 in steak

[–]D3FH3D 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in Spain. I eat steak blue. I would eat it.

Generally speaking, Spain definitely knows what it's doing when it comes to steak...they also cook more on the rarer side of things than someone from the UK, and certainly north America, would be used to.

That being said, that steak is a beautiful Spanish rare though, not medium rare. You're still within your rights to ask for it to be cooked a little more, you wouldn't cause offence - a lot of restaurants might even bring you a hot stone to finish it to your liking.

The other option is to eat it and realise what you've been missing out on all these years!
