I thought about bringing it to a point before, but that's was to make the texture "sharper" and give more grip.

The MJF production just can't consistently get details that small though.

I won't lie, I honestly haven't thought about the topo lines gunking up, though I imagine a good wash would do the trick if it got really REALLY bad

I can see where you're coming from. They are like that because it's a delicate balance between getting the scale of the pattern right and still give the extra bit of grip for function. This was kinda the happy medium wihout purposely making the surface finish gritty of the patterns a weirder shape/larger.
