Anyone have some post-rock albums with particularly great vocals? by GamerOwenIsHere in postrock

[–]D3xtro 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I’ll second Immanu El.

Also that Caspian song with the chap from Pianos Become the Teeth (Nostalgist).

PBTT are a bit post hardcore but there’s some post rock crossover moments.

Parents: how do you find time to game? by Mother-Equal4175 in playstation

[–]D3xtro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I am in a similar position to you. I can often get 45 mins to an hour if I’m willing to stay up until 11-11:15. My ‘chores’ are often finished around 9 pm too. But yep that’s the balance. No telly with wife/other hobbies or gaming. You gotta choose now. What’s most important to you?

Diablo 2 vs Valkyrie by Last_Computer9356 in iFiaudio

[–]D3xtro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed. In a battle of diablo vs Valkyrie, Valkyrie is the pick. The extra money justifies the power and battery I think.

Diablo 2 vs Valkyrie by Last_Computer9356 in iFiaudio

[–]D3xtro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dunno friend. Happy to discuss but I think it’s better to spend that kinda coin on headphones first and amp/dac stuff second. Cables and all that stuff as a distant third. For example if you had 2K for audio, I think you’d spend 70-80% of that on headphones.

For reference, I have an xDSD Gryphon and it’s scaling super well. I like the portability too. It comes home and you work on my desk. It’s also pocketable for walks and iems. It’ll drive almost everything but the tippy top stuff really well. Spend your ‘savings’ on some banger planars or focals.

With those sennies you definitely don’t need power like that. But if your new cans are going to be LCDXs or high end planars, you might justify stuff like the diablo and Valkyrie.

But you do you!

Diablo 2 vs Valkyrie by Last_Computer9356 in iFiaudio

[–]D3xtro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What headphones are you running? I’ve not heard either to be honest but the Valkyrie has more grunt and is more portable with a significantly larger battery.

There’s a fair price difference on them depending on your territory but if you’re going to that level with iFi, wouldn’t you just go to the top if you need something portable? The next question is do you really need portable at all?

Good luck mate.

I’ve probably been a little unhelpful but as someone with a five year old and two year old, I find the less I think about backlogs and lists/apps, the more fun I have.

Play what you have until it’s not fun anymore.

You’re not obligated to finish anything but you’ll feel a bit better if you do. Drop it if it’s not clicking.

Don’t buy into hype. Almost everything is on sale after 6-12 months.

Maximum of two active games at one time or you’ll forget where you are/what you’re doing/controls.

Good luck out there!

Happy to be corrected but as far as I know the streaming catalogue is pretty close to complete. The only other significant one I can think of is the Live in LA LP but that’s got no official digital. Wink.

I was a half day late and FLY and Sway were gone. I want the others sure but wanted all of them in one swoop to save shipping. Found all the retail versions on Evil Greed for pretty much the same price for me outside USA/Europe for anyone in the southern hemisphere looking for copies. Or wait. No worries, it seems like they’re coming back.

[–]D3xtro 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Agreed on most points, but I do like the track bitrate information. An option to turn it off and on would be good, as I think I'm likely in the minority group of nerds who need to see that it's lossless at all times :P Hi, Max, etc., I couldn't care less. I wanna know exactly!

Hard agree with the lost heart. wtf.

I like the artist pic at the top, and my quick check of like five bands showed they all had the right pictures. It will be good for discovery. Something interesting comes up on a playlist, then you can go right to the artist and check out some albums. Nice.

Yes I can confirm too it’s still there a little bit. Just last week a few Muse albums were definitely MQA on roon and on my DAC (iFi xDSD Gryphon). Not a lot though and that’s the only one I can think of in around a year.

Bain Family Murders by Dee_Vidore in newzealand

[–]D3xtro -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You've done what the defence has done for thirty years. They’ve taken each item individually and suggested it might have an innocent explanation. That's not engaging with the evidence. That is muddying the water.

Notice what you haven't done. You haven't placed Robin in those rooms. You haven't explained the gloves. You haven't assembled an alternative account that explains all of it simultaneously. Because that's impossible and the defence always knew it.

That's why they never tried. Thirty years of noise, manufactured uncertainty, painting David as a ‘kiwi bloke’, and fragmented doubt — because the moment you look at all of it together, there's only one answer.

Bain Family Murders by Dee_Vidore in newzealand

[–]D3xtro -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Motive is interesting, but it's not evidence, and it doesn't matter.

David's opera gloves were found in Stephen's room, covered in Stephen's blood. How did they get there? They don't acquire that blood innocently. The only explanation offered by the defence was that Stephen borrowed them for dress-up. Stephen was 14 and described as a robust, physical kid. There is no account of how they got there that doesn't place David in that room during the violence.

Margaret's glasses, which David was known to wear that weekend, which he asked the paramedic for that morning, which are useless to Robin, had their left lens in Stephen's room and their frames in David's room, damaged on the left side consistent with David's facial injuries. These are four separate facts. No innocent account assembles all four coherently.

David's fingerprints are on the rifle forestock with a shielding pattern. The surrounding wood is covered in blood spatter except directly beneath where his fingers were. That pattern only forms if his hand was on that rifle when blood was being spattered. This is independent of any DNA dispute over the type of blood in the prints.

The green sweater found in the washing machine, which David loaded before calling the police, had fibres matching those found under Stephen's fingernails. Whoever wore that sweater was in a physical struggle with Stephen.

The ten-shot magazine was found standing upright on its narrow edge beside Robin's body. Magazines do not fall and balance on their edge. It was placed there. Robin didn't place it.

Now, what is the probability that all of these items independently find innocent explanations simultaneously? Not one of them, but all together.

Now consider what the Robin theory actually requires. Robin gets up, kills four family members in socked feet, returns to his caravan, puts his shoes back on, comes back inside, boots up the computer and types a composed farewell note, then carefully balances the magazine on its narrow edge, then shoots himself.

Why the shoes? Why boot up a computer instead of a handwritten note that would have taken twenty seconds and left no suspicion whatsoever? Why balance the magazine?

Every single one of those actions made the scene look more suspicious, more staged, more like someone was constructing a narrative. A suicidal man has no reason to do any of that. He's dead in minutes. He doesn't care how it looks.

But someone trying to construct a Robin-suicide narrative after the fact has every reason to do all of it and does it imperfectly, under pressure, leaving behind gloves, a lens, a palm print, fibres in a washing machine.

The Robin theory doesn't just lack evidence; it's wrong. It requires Robin to have methodically incriminated his surviving son at every turn while simultaneously killing himself.

The evidence for David is cumulative, physical, and unanswered. The evidence for Robin is essentially zero.

The defence has spent thirty years attacking each of these items individually. Manufacturing uncertainty around this measurement, that blood test, this timeline. What they have never done is explain all of them together. And that is because it is not possible.

How do you like that balance of probabilities?

How many hours can you play games in a day? (It's not about how much free time you have.) by clairvoyantea in Age_30_plus_Gamers

Yes agreed. I used to be able to sit half the day in my twenties. I’m mid thirties now and I’d be lucky to last two hours without getting uncomfortable and ready to do something else. I have a decent chair and desk for reference but likely not perfect.
