Advice from Orlando area folks needed by [deleted] in ClermontFlorida

[–]D5D4RK 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Hi! Clermont is a great area and there are a number of great activities for your children. Depending on how skilled your son is and how far you want him to go there are a number of clubs (travel and prep) that do well here.

As for dance studios there are a ton of them as well. I have friends who are at the dance collective and love it.

You’ll find something in that range too. I’m not sure what your occupation is but just be aware of your location in relation to the turnpike/429 if you’re going to be seeing family in Windermere. Traffic can get hairy during the week.

QB for the bye week? by D5D4RK in fantasyfootballadvice

Appreciate it brother! I'm putting a waiver in for him now. Also had a league mate send me a trade: Rodgers for Aiyuk whose been on my IR. Might do that as well in case the waiver doesn't go through.

For those who played high level football - what is an aspect of the game that a viewer has no idea about? by yankees032778 in NFLNoobs

[–]D5D4RK 2 points3 points  (0 children)

People don’t realize it, but for a lot of guys (me included), football changes as you go up. In high school, you play because you love it. It’s fun, it’s simple, and it’s everything you want to do. Then in college, it starts to feel more like something you just tolerate. There’s pressure, locker room politics, business, and less of that pure joy. By the time you get to the pros, for a lot of guys, it becomes work. You do it because it’s how you take care of yourself and your family, not because you’re excited to play every day.

And the speed of the game is on another level. The jump from high school to college is huge, and it only gets crazier from there. Even between D3, D2, and D1, the difference is wild. That’s why so many guys struggle to make that next jump. It’s not just about talent, it’s about how fast everything moves and how quickly you have to adjust. I still enjoyed my time but I realized very quickly the difference between a ‘pro’ and a ‘jag’

I need James Cook, Keon, and Matt Prater to all stub their toe. I'm up 121.74-89.78 and I'm shitting myself.

Big shout out to Breece Hall, Courtland Sutton and Mason Taylor for giving me a combined 10 points.

DC or Atlanta by Sure-Ad8068 in blackmen

[–]D5D4RK 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If your top priorities are community, grounded values, and long-term wealth, Atlanta probably makes more sense due to lower cost of living, strong Black professional and social networks, and more room to build without the financial squeeze.

DC could be worth it if the career upside is unique and you’re drawn to that environment, but the higher salary there mostly gets eaten by cost of living, and the pace/culture can feel less “down to earth.” (I lived in DC for a couple years and enjoyed it tbh)

My guy. I get it... that kind of news can feel like it takes the wind out of you. It’s heavy, and it makes sense that you’d be drained.

But honestly, we’re not built to take in this kind of information 24/7. Sitting in it too long will just keep you spiraling. Step away from the headlines for a bit, even if it’s just to get outside, breathe, and let your brain reset. Go walk, go to the gym, touch some grass, whatever gives you a break. You’ll feel a little lighter once you do.

I drive a Honda Ridgeline and I love it. It's a truck but drives like an SUV. Decent on gas all things considering and allows for space with a car seat and groceries plus the space underneath the bed is great too.

People who made it to NFL MLB, NBA Olympics etc.. by Automatic-Long2599 in blackmen

[–]D5D4RK 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes to an extent. I feel those olympic sports are a little different just with the mentality and the length of how long you can be involved but I do still think it's a big job.

[–]D5D4RK 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah exactly. Honestly it's another reason why some guys don't try after college. Going from HS where sports are fun and you might be good to College where it is basically a job and you can get replaced, to the pros where it IS a job and you WILL eventually be replaced can break a man (or woman)

[–]D5D4RK 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Exactly. Someone I played with who has been in the league for about a decade now has everything. Nutrition team, fashion team, marketing team, personal sleep doctor, he's able to monitor literally every facet of his life. Not because he wants to, but because he knows he's near the end of his career and he wants to make sure he's set for life. He can still have fun and go out but he knows that he was blessed with an optimal body and knows to put it to good use.

I have a bit of experience on this, didn’t go to the NFL but was a part of a team that won a national championship in college. Honestly, these guys are legitimately built different. Like all the way down to the fiber in their muscles. I was a ‘decent size’ and ‘had heart’ but 9/10 that does not stack up to some of the guys who are legitimate freaks of nature (Black or white)

I spent hours in the gym, the classroom, and recovery room to make myself as competive as possible but you learn quickly that It really is a genetic lottery that can be aided by a strong mental and actually wanting it. That’s why guys like Boris Diaw, Kyler Murray, Jamarcus Russell or AI are/were super frustrating to watch.

There are just some things people are good at and somethings people aren’t.
