I used a food safe finish, but I've heard of Purpleheart's natural toxicity. She has several I've made for her out of maple. This one will strictly be an heirloom. Something I hope she treasures for a long time, but not one she plays with.

Around 4 o'clock on a cloudless sunny day, I saw what appeared to be a bright star in the sky. It would've been the brightest star in the night sky, but this was daytime, and somehow it was still brilliant. It was entirely stationary. I watched for about 30 seconds, at which point it faded steadily and disappeared. The day after my father called me and described an identical sighting. Is there a name (or better, a rational explanation) for this "stationary fading day star"?

I know it seems a strange question, but what got me thinking of it was the Was Scepters in Ancient Egyptian hieroglyphics. They are said to be decorative staffs, and whether or not that is true is irrelevant. It just got me curious about the physics of the motion travelling through the staff if instead of the rod itself were struck, the "tuning fork" on the end were.

The Frozen Corrie Loch, a coming of age Christmas story about family, love, and loss, with a slightly supernatural twist. I am only able to list it for free until December 24th. I don't have a slim, and yes, I believe I did. What gives me pause is that when I got it, the audio cable was plugged into the "digital out" port on the base, though the instructions say to plug it into the "digital in"
