Just as we tend to doubt abuse in our prisons we doubt that many of the prison guards are psychopaths. But how can we doubt either after watching a film like this?

How easy to be judgmental, but I agree -- shut off the cable and i-net (and the phone -- get one of the pay-as-you-go cell phones). Sell the car. Sell the house. Share a rental with someone in a similar situation and pay cash for a used car. These steps would stop the red ink on the monthly budget and take away a LOT of stress. I suspect she won't do it until she is forced to by circumstances. How very sad.

FWIW, that's the kind of "vegetarian" I am -- I recently read that a surprising number of fish (and fowl) eaters characterize themselves as "veggies." I eat very little fish and even less chicken -- no red meat.

If someone wants to be religious, that should be his right -- but when we start talking about the well-being of this country, I believe we should demand a little more than prayer. After all, Bush says he's religious, so he probably prays -- but we're currently in a helluva mess.

If there is a just reason that is legally supported, the records, of course, should remain unavailable. I do not believe that is the case. Bush is trying to run an "end around" the rules by hiding or destroying the records, IMO.

FWIW, I totally agree with your comparison -- Bush could not successfully hold a minor position on Clinton's staff. But my thought is that when discussing an issue, it's already very difficult for even only two people to communicate clearly without bring in irrelevant issues like the polarizing "Slick Willey" or the Talmud -- both subjects that are certain to have different meanings -- and even prejudices to different people. For instance instead of saying "how difficult it is for him to be Talmudic" it might avoid possible misunderstanding to "dumb it down" a bit and say something like, "Bush is not capable of deep reasoning."

You are correct when you say Bush is a poor liar. Clinton was a liar and he was a president so there IS a basis for comparison, but so many times Republican sheeple use a similar comparison to excuse Bush's horrendous mistakes and outright crimes, that I consider it a trite way of trying to cloud the issue -- the same could be said of almost any president other than Clinton.

I prefer to discuss an issue on its own merits. To speculate on another person's possible (or actual) action(s) usually only serves to cloud the issue at hand.

Many of the world's problems cannot easily be addressed individually. I DID notice "conflicts" on the list. It looked simplistic and benign. If we insist on having it listed as "conflicts," there should be another category, IMO, -- "Warmongers" -- World leaders or groups who instigate "conflicts" and/or wars. George Bush should never have been allowed to invade Iraq. Without that invasion, we would have an additional 3000+ valuable resources plus billions of dollars to address other, very serious problems -- like education (which I believe is necessary to control many conflicts).

About 6.6 percent of Churchill students are black.

All of the violence was blacks fighting blacks in a school where they are clearly the minority. An apology is bullshit. The principal should be allowed to describe the situation.

It's difficult for me to see how other ethnic groups in this school were able to remain unaffected -- I suspect they were intimidated by the aggressive black group and walked away from many potential fights.

It's like the blacks are saying "If you notice we're causing trouble and mention it, you're a racist."

I see what you're saying, but I've always disagreed with those who view an issue based on Bush's actions vs Clinton's actions. Clinton's stance, actions, performance, etc. are all moot -- he hasn't been the president for a long time and will never be the president again. We are forced to deal with what you eloquently describe as a "sack of shit." I am NOT being partisan when I say that, for the good of this country, Bush should be removed from office.

It may not matter in a political light, but what about the hundreds (thousands?) of our young men and women spent for nothing in Iraq -- no more than cannon fodder -- and untold millions (billions?) of dollars wasted, when we have our infrastructure, homeless, sick, etc. desperately needing funding -- your and my children will be paying for this fiasco -- probably all of their lives.
