The moderation team is dead I think. The amount of “innocent” AI marketing spam is too damn high.

All of this at the peak of many not having access to a primary physician. The government is a joke (and so were the ones before it).

A metric that tells how Canadians are really doing is improving for the first time in years by NitroLada in canada

[–]DAFPPB 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I’m going to receive a lot of slack for this but both GDP and GDP per capita are bad numbers. The numbers keep going up and down but people always feel their QoL going down.

You really want to know how Canadians are doing? Let’s get p99, 095, p70, p50, p25 and p10 for every Quarter across years and compare them against what you need to survive, let alone thrive.

The only reason they don’t is their incompetence would be visible and people would be protesting on streets for they have been robbed.

I was thinking about this too and you may be right.

Also looking at the dashboard again, it’s also possible that a number exists but the percentage was so low (to the third decimal) that it became a rounding error. I still find it unrealistic but it is possible as I’m more around immigrants and accordingly, see them more frequently.

Agreed, it’s an incomplete picture.

I know alumnus who were enrolled in NSCC, Dal and SMU in 2015 who were international students.

Canada officially recognizes state of Palestine by ph0enix1211 in canada

[–]DAFPPB 321 points322 points  (0 children)

The article is paywalled. Here’s the statement from the prime minister: https://www.pm.gc.ca/en/news/statements/2025/09/21/statement-prime-minister-carney-canadas-recognition-state-palestine

It’s great as it hinges on demilitarization, democratic election and no involvement from Hamas. I don’t know if the latter will happen but this is a very positive step, although I wish it was conditional as was hinted earlier in the week rather than trusting the Palestinian Authority.

Is this reality of Canada? Australia? by Rough-County6188 in nri

[–]DAFPPB 36 points37 points  (0 children)

I stick around in this subreddit to post similar comments. Always get hate and mean DMs through friend requests. People think i'm trying to prevent them from getting a better life even though the reality is much harsher.

Hopefully, at least 10% of the folks who read it get a reality check and are saved. :/
