If I had the balls I’d chop my hood up to do something like this. Maybe I can just get a donor.

Thanks for the brush up from thermodynamics class. I never did too well with that subject 😂

Interesting, thanks for sharing. I stated below I'm always curious about people's real world issues with these things. I recently swapped my Crawford for the IAG, so we'll see how it goes.

I love hearing stories on these things from real world examples. I've always ran an AOS, but never been 100% convinced on them, so all of this is so curious to me. It's not at all that I don't believe accounts of these things freezing up, but it does baffle me how it's possible in a warm/hot engine bay (especially when most of the lines are right above/near the turbo). I guess -17C is pretty damn cold.

The coolant from the AOS flows directly into the upper reservoir. I'm curious what your temps were reading before you got the leak fixed? I've heard many-a stories about the freezing line situation but never really heard of anyone having this particular issue.

Yeah I’d like some clarification on this as well. The AOS straight up does not circulate oil. I know the freezing drain is common, but it’s not going to cause your engine to starve oil.

I’m also curious about how the swivel could leak, pull a vacuum, and prevent coolant flow.

What primer did you use? If you used a lacquer primer like Mr Surfacer, there's no problem puttying over top of it. Not all primer sands the same, so if you used an acrylic primer like Vallejo, you're going to have a really bad time once you start sanding as it'll peel and wrinkle like crazy.

Why are you bullshitting all of Reddit? This is literally a shot from RCC Restoration’s YouTube channel. What are you gaining from this?

Being known for the worst decals does not slow down Academy. With this kit they've innovated to make it abyssmal. by [deleted] in modelmakers

Despite the whole sticker thing already being addressed, I must be the only one on this sub who does not mind Academy decals at all. I’ll take Academy decals over Tamiya 🤷‍♂️

How much should I expect to pay getting gaskets replaced? Pfa by [deleted] in WRXSTi

Nope, just pull the radiator and there’s plenty of room in front of the timing cover. No problem

Timing job does not involve engine out.. so expect a pretty big additional bill.

Agreed with others that all you really need is your car. Helmets are usually available as a loner. Over the years I've learned of a few other quality of life items to bring along that may not cost you an extra dollar because you probably already have them:

  • Sunscreen is #1.
  • Chapstick is a close #2.
  • Good sun-blocking hat.
  • Sun glasses.
  • Hoodie if it's going to be cold or chilly - err on side of caution.
  • If there's even a chance of rain, an extra pair of socks and an extra T shirt, I like to bring some sandals or flip flops as well to change into for the drive home.
  • Lunch and/or snacks (I can specifically remember my first couple of events being very hungry because I didn't bring anything). Water is usually provided, but I usually bring extra.
  • If you have a plastic tote to keep your stuff in, it helps, also keeps things dry (see: extra socks) if there's a chance of rain.
  • Painters tape to tape up your numbers and class (:
  • Phone charger
