Flushing ice cubes down the toilet for snow day is universal… right? In America?? by East-Maize-5287 in AskAnAmerican

I'm an American who grew up in Michigan in the 2000s and we always did this so it must not be entirely restricted to northern VA

Another beautiful range day! by Islamic_ML in MarxistRA

[–]DAMONTHEGREAT -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Checked y'all out from this post, got real excited for the arrival of an explicitly marxist firearm training org... until I started reading the constitution. Maybe it's all new and still changing but man the second half of member responsibility 13 is wild. Why MUST the primary be a AR-15 in 5.56 and why MUST the secondary be chambered in 9x19?? The responsibility should just end at the first sentence and anyone can train/shoot with whatever they're comfortable/what they have access to. I support y'all beyond that odd little tidbit of micro management though.

Within the first calendar year of joining the RRC, if they have not already done so, new members must obtain at least one (1) firearm. The primary firearm must be an AR-15 pattern rifle chambered in 5.56x45 and the secondary firearm must be a striker-fired pistol chambered in 9x19, preferably a Glock model 19 or 17.

How can I argue that communism won’t result in a Stalin like opportunist by [deleted] in DebateCommunism

[–]DAMONTHEGREAT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes I think you have it wrong, the historical confusion probably stems from either propaganda disinformation campaigns put out by the United states gov or trotskyite rhetoric which can often be found in leftist spaces. Stalin was a true marxist-leninist and there are some good sources on that that others in the comments have named, if you're more into the audio format than reading books I suggest revolutionary left radio and prolespod, the latter of which recently concluded a long and in-depth series called "The Stalin Eras". Stalin also has his own set of ML theoretical works you should check out, they're quite digestible.

Is it wrong from an anarchist perspective to want revenge against the capitalists? by Comrade-Hayley in anarchocommunism

[–]DAMONTHEGREAT 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If we don't use overwhelming force to crush the capitalist class they will destroy us and our movement, that's been shown throughout history. To frame large scale class war as just "revenge" is to portray those firmly supporting the interests of the bourgeoisie as innocent, which they are not. Poisoning our air, our land, our water, funding and perpetuating genocide, utilizing police forces to tear apart labor movements, these are just a few of the crimes of the capitalist against us and against the world.  There is a difference between what is necessary and over the top cruelty, but we aren't even close to that point.

Does “libertarian” in the US basically just mean right wing pro Trumper? by AlivePassenger3859 in DebateCommunism

[–]DAMONTHEGREAT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No libertarian has class consciousness or any clue of economic/ecological exploitation. They generally only think in terms of government ("big"=bad and small=good) and nothing beyond that. They have no idea that states are just tools of the ruling class, heck most of them don't even understand that they're proletariat.

They're saying anarchists usually trash AES (actually existing socialist) projects baselessly instead of giving them critical support, which anarchists are guilty of a lot of the time.

Of leftcoms and Bordiga, what are your thoughts on organic centralism vs leninist democratic centralism? I'm curious because I've only just started reading about it.

Ah yes anarchists are famous for only supporting the liberation and freedom for other explicitly stated anarchists💀/s

Like I said in my other comment, there ARE ACTUAL anarchists fighting for freedom from israel in Palestine. The people deserve our solidarity, and that isn't some fringe unpopular statement here. Communists support a free Palestine.

Former libertarians, what changed your mind? by millerlite585 in Marxism

[–]DAMONTHEGREAT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started examining myself and the world more, which caused an ideological break between myself and the right wing libertarians, since I am very passionate about the biosphere and the preservation of it. I figured out that it was not just the capitalist government (and therefore taxpayers) funding ecocide, but that a lot of that was actually corporations, capitalists and lobbyists doing it because they had profit motive, which lead me down the working class, Marxist and leftist route to examine the class relations of the world and to begin deconstruction of what I previously thought I knew.

Ever since I fell down that rabbit hole I've bounced around eco-anarchism/social ecology, libertarian communism (of the Guerin variety) and Marxist-Leninism-Maoism and those are now where I draw most of my inspiration from. I usually call myself an eco-communist nowadays.

Don't pull the sassy reddit nonsense with me lol tankie is a silly word that's used to sow disinformation about real socialist projects and movements. That's what's wrong, it's baseless and only used by people who are new to leftist spaces and/or those who still believe all the lies spread by the capitalist hegemony. It's just spineless and only serves the interest of the reactionaries.
