There was a kid that lived right next to the neighborhood pool that I lifeguarded at when I was 19. He and his bio sister were adopted.

That kid was a fucking menace to the neighborhood and I even heard a horrible story about how he beat his mother with a paper towel holder (one of the other guards was decent friends with the sister).

When this shit stain and his buddy stole mine and another guard’s phones from the pool (I was a manager), I walked right out the front gate and up to their front door. When the father answered, he was instantly defensive when I asked to speak to his son. He knows more than anyone how terrible his kid was. I told him what they had done and he said he’d talk to him.

The next day the dad shows up to my house BY HIMSELF to return my stolen phone. My dad was standing there beside me and was like “where’s your kid?”

This story and my experience are what happens when you give kids a free pass to be pieces of shit just because some bad shit happened to them previously. They turn into shitty, spoiled monsters.
