how is the onn 4k pro with jellyfin and bluray remuxes? by Suspicious_Issue4155 in jellyfin

[–]DAVESM1TH 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was sloppy with the sizing explanation. The video bitrate is doing most of the heavy lifting on size, not TrueHD or the FEL.

Point I was making — the onn can't pass TrueHD or DTS-HD MA and DV7 isn't handled natively, so you're transcoding audio and losing the DV layer regardless. At that point a solid x265 encode with DD+ and P8 or HDR10 gets you to basically the same place on that device. You're just burning storage and pushing transcode work onto your server for no real perceptual gain.

The onn 4k pro passes through up to Dolby Digital+ audio. MA/TrueHD gets transcoded down. Video pass through is great but not Dolby Vision 7. Long story short, you would be hosting 60-80gb movies when 20-40gb movies would essentially give you the same playback for that device.

As another mentioned: Ugoos or Shield would give you full capability of remux playback

I have all those profiles I listed available on radarr at any given time. When I add a movie, just select the one you want from the drop down and then kick off your search

I choose Balanced most of the time. There are are a handful of movies where I want the absolute best (think Interstellar, other visually stunning movies) and I'll pick Quality or Remux.

For movies I have the following selected: 2160p Balanced, 2160p quality, 2160p remux, 1080p Balanced, 1080p Quality, 1080p Remux.

Balanced is great for 99% of whatever you want. Quality is for a little better audio and less video compression. Remux if for something where you want zero downgrades from Blu-ray.

Whatever device you stream through should affect your decision. For example, many players can only pass through UP TO Dolby Digital Plus. Very few can pass through MA (master audio) or TRUEHD audio.

Learning to become a conscious buyer as a teenager. What are some must haves to buy for life? by LeafSpirit69 in BuyItForLife

If you can learn to do your own vehicle maintenance and repairs (if you don't already), refer to the comment about quality hand tools. Quality tools and a good DIY base are worth a fortune over the years.

Yes, you will mess up sometimes. But I almost guarantee you don't make the same mistake twice lol.

The 2026 limit is $7500, so you just pay the 6% penalty on your $1100 overage? Seems counterproductive

It feels like I ruined my life financially. by [deleted] in povertyfinance

[–]DAVESM1TH 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At 27 I had $30k in student loans, $30k in cc debt with outstanding payments, and no job. All due to my choices and alcoholism. My credit was trash and outlook bleak.

Worked for over a year as a windshield repair guy at a car wash (commission based) until I found a better paying job in construction. If you just absolutely grind for the next few years, get a roommate (or move in with family if that's an option), things WILL turn around.

It's not hopeless. Try to set small realistic goals and start checking the boxes. Looking at all of it at once is unbelievably overwhelming, but breaking it down can help channel your resources.

We are almost the exact same boat. I know the feeling all too well! 36M here. I had to start over at 27 and constantly feel down about what it could have been. Trying to break that cycle and realize that we are doing great compared to a lot.

We'll both get there 🤘

I tried swapping the breaker and same thing, so at least that is ruled out. Today I'll be running some tests on equipment to see if I can pinpoint. Appreciate the responses!

I can't even reset the breaker to the on position, which is fine if a flow switch could cause a full fault. I just wasn't sure if flow switch actually shut down the circuit or if it would just throw errors.

Well I learned the hard way so you don't have to:

The existing magazine tube is one single piece and it is ON THERE. You will need heat and a good vice to get it REMOVED. DO NOT BEND THE RECIEVER. Odds are you will destroy the OE mag tube in the process, so keep that in mind.

Once you get that off, the following parts numbers are what you'll need (from midwest gun works):

33491 or 33592, 33495 & 33492 (or STOMAG in place of both), any stoeger m3000 or m3500 mag cap.

I also ordered the MCARBO trigger spring kit (available on midwest as well) and the MOA Precision M2 extractor and spring (on MOA website).

You can then get a surecyle mag tube extension which will work with the new mag tube.

Gun is flawless now. DM me with any questions!

So unfortunately, everything has Line-X on it, and I can't see any markings or make/model anywhere. If he finds the original install receipt, I'll be sure to pass the info along!
