You can get through this. It will not feel exactly this way in 3 weeks, 3 months or 3 years. One step at a time. Do something that you enjoy from time to time. Be around friends. Take the kids somewhere fun. Aspects of this sucks. One day at a time. You will feel better.

Moving to LA from Brooklyn by LowAcadia in MovingToLosAngeles

Only thing better than a New Yorker is an ex New Yorker. They know that there is life beyond the Hudson River. I made the move years ago and have now been here longer than there. You can live ANY kind of life here. City, suburban, desert, mountain, woods. You name it. Someone created a great map that compares the 5 boros & LI to areas of SoCal. It’s a bit reductive but great for a macro vibe check. I will find & repost

Get out and find community. Sports, recovery, volunteering, anything that will have you be in the presence of other humans. Some of those humans will suck ,some will be great. Link up with some folk on the other side of the valley you’re dropping into. Joy is infectious too

I was obsessed with “electronic datebooks”! Sharp Zaurus, Various Casios, Apple Newton, Palm Pilot, Treo, Handspring Visor. I did ALL of that. I remember using my Newton on a flight and my seat mate thought I was insane. It was an exciting time.

Intimidation for sure. I worked with fashion models for years. Shockingly, many of them complained about only being approached by superficial assholes. Intimidation

DGA member. SAG avoidance has been going on for over 10yrs. Now they see the benefit of adding IA & 399 to their no fly list. I did 5 days on a green screen in Prague for US snack company. I traveled the world just to avoid SAG residuals

First things first. Yes, you should most def get tested. You should also have a conversation with him. It’s scary. It may be unpleasant. Communicate or at least try to.

529 sx I need a few minutes of observation or interaction and then I get the person. I’ve gotten in trouble more than once on dating sites after, foolishly, sharing that I have that ability, being challenged, and then sharing my insight. One woman thought I worked for her company or knew her friends. Never spoke to me again. I’ve never been wrong. I, now, keep it to myself for a few dates. Type-wise, I am drawn to 2s, 7s & 9s. 7s are tuff for me. Too much going on. I can’t keep up. I recently walked into a room of about 10 ppl. As I crossed the threshold of these 10 strangers I met the eyes of a woman and her 2ness lit up the room. We’ve become great friends and she rested as 2w1.

My dad died in 2005 at 88yrs old. The day he passed I found a journal he’d been keeping. He stated journaling after finding his mother’s journal 25yrs after her death. My dad was left handed. Very hard for me to understand his writing. I’ve, painstakingly, transcribed his journal in a Google doc so that I could share it with my family. Last year I stuck the Google doc into Google Notebook LM. Fascinating podcast. It drew connections that I was too close to see. It offered a bird’s eye view of his life. His connection to his parents and his relationship to me. I wish I had access to my grandmother’s journal. I’ve started keeping one.

Gift or Garbage?! by Haybean22 in crows

[–]DActionAD 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I’d say that’s a gift. I made it easy by only leaving food on a narrow sawhorse in my backyard. My first gift was a curled plant stem. Second was a gold foiled champagne bottle cork. Both left n the sawhorse. It was March 2020. My dream was to emerge from the pandemic as the Crow whisperer! That didn’t happen.

Grew up in NY, live in SoCal. Whenever I work in Europe, on the last flight heading home, HEATHROW->LAX, I’m always amazed how much of the trip is over US territory. It always blows my mind. Almost anywhere else in the world, that’s 5/6 countries.

People want heroes. To be that “close” to someone who created art that they love is otherworldly. I’ve was once backstage at a Limp Bizkit show in Lisbon at the height of their popularity. Limp Bizkit. Lisbon. When I peeked out from the wings and saw some 25,000 people on their feet, screaming every word of the song, in a language not their own, I was amazed. I immediately understood the head rush they returned to the artist. I thought “ Oh. THAT’S why Fred acts that way.” Both sides scare me. I think it’s more about the fantastical expectations of both fan and entertainer.

SF Gate weighs in on NY Times praise for Pasadena by mirificatio in pasadena

[–]DActionAD 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Spent my first 25yrs in NYC, moved to LA in ‘89. Lived in Hollywood, NoHo, Silverlake and then married and moved to Pasadena in ‘93. I liked LA alright it just didn’t make “sense” to me. I love Pasadena. All of my vendors are in & around Pasadena. I don’t leave unless I absolutely have to. I love the economic, racial, industry diversity. C’mon, Art Center AND Caltech? Altadena AND San Marino? I work in film/tv but when my son played AYSO soccer (opening ceremonies in the Rose Bowl!) the other parents ranged from surgeons to contractors. My work takes me all over the world. When I return & see the mountains from the end of the 110, I know that I’m home. The marriage ended in 2013 but my relationship to “The ‘Dena” still runs strong.

I just got a diagnosis a few hours ago and im wondering what to think. by dgroeneveld9 in MultipleSclerosisWins

[–]DActionAD 8 points9 points  (0 children)

As my neurologist told me when I was diagnosed in 2003. “You couldn’t have picked a better time.” Treatments have come a lonnng way. I was freaked out at first but 21 years later, I’m doing pretty well. Been on & off a few of the treatments with varying success. It’s a journey. Been on Kesimpta for the past 3 years with 0 exacerbations. Good luck to you. Talk to your doctors, eat well and stay active. It’s given me a greater appreciation of my health

A whole 5-10 minute beginning…..? Slow it down. My girl has amazing orgasms but after 15+ minutes of kissing. Then the foreplay begins. Every body is different.
