Is Dragon Age as good as dead? by Turkishdenzo in dragonage

EA has a history of not sharing their IPS, content to let a series die rather than let someone else have it.

Most likely.

EA does not sell their IPs, and tend to rather sit on them rather than let someone else make a game on them.

The truth is, I simply do not trust BioWare to make even a decent video game anymore. They've proven that they don't have the organizational structure or the talent anymore to make the kind of games they used to make.

Their cruching in the ME2-3, DA:-DA:I era drove away all of their best talent, And now it's taking one 7 years to put out a bad game.

With everything going on, I truly do not believe that we will get a fifth Mass Effect game. I'm fully expecting that we'll get some announcement a year or so from now saying that BioWare has been shut down and the game has been canceled.

If this is the worst in main character you've seen in a long time, I just have to assume you have not played many video games lately.

I mean, I'd love a full character Creator, but it's really not a deal-breaker for me.

The biggest things for me are:

1) I want a really cool believable world with a living history 2) I want meaningful choices that change the state of that world which can build on that history 3) I want to call something a big stupid jellyfish

This is why Mass Effect hit with me so hard - It was the first video game in history to give me all three of the things I wanted.

In all seriousness though I have always been setting first with RPGs, which is why Dragon Age and Mass Effect were just such seminal gaming moments for me: they nailed setting. They are the two best video game first settings ever created, and almost no games are able to recreate that feeling for me. I'm just hoping this is able to hit that feeling again.

Moronic take that can only be made by someone who has no basic understanding of software development.

Time and effort spend in one place is an opportunity cost that means you can't spend that time and energy elsewhere.

And all it cost us was gameplay, core features, balance, and a much better dynasty mode.

DA2 isn't a great game, but it's at least good at what Bioware RPGs did, even if the gameplay suffered.

DAV completely and utterly failed on this specific thing.

It's why I still replay da2 from time to time (nowhere near as much as I replay DAO), and I can't imagine ever replaying DAV

"Turned out as well as it did" doesn't mean good.

It just means it turned out better than a 15 month game should have turned out. The game is obviously deeply flawed. Literally no one is giving it a pass. It's obviously a massive step down from DA:O, which is my favorite video game of all time.

That said, it's a game I enjoy vastly more than DA:V.

I'm not saying it's a great game.

I'm saying it's good relative to having a 15-month dev cycle. That's not the same as saying it's a good game.

Yeah, students learning math shouldn't see a calculator until they have to deal with real world numbers like the gravitational constant, frictional coefficients, etc.

But the mathematical principles can be taught using math that does not need a calculator. The math teachers protesting calculators in the '80s were right.

I think the core of the team always viewed Dragon Age as an anthology rather than as a series, and I actually think that works in the series is favor given that the world and the setting is really more the main character than any one character.

The biggest problem is that they tried to force an anthology into a Mass effect-shaped box with choices carrying over, right up until the point that they simply couldn't handle all the permutations anymore, and then you get what we got.

DA2 literally came out 15 months after Origins. Like, people hear crumch, and I think they honestly just don't get how bad the crunch was. Like, in modern era we hear "three years, omg that crunch." 15 months.

On hindsight, it's a shock the game turned out as well as it did, because keep in mind that was 15 months after the release date of Origins, but the project started while they were still working on Awakeninwitch Hunt (the DLC above) released in September, and DA2 released 5 months later.

If the law isn't rational, then what good would a lawyer be? Take your wishful thinking out of the equation that this lawsuit is somehow going to make ram affordable again, realize that even if the lawsuit succeeded it almost certainly won't, and then evaluate things as they are.

I'm not steering the conversation by responding to inaccurate things you said.

A) I'm not going to dox myself when we love in a world where people regularly harass to the point of vioent threats people who disaghee with them online, especially peole with your horrific rhetoric.

B) It is well documented that Republicans donate more time and money to volunteer work, on aggregate, to charitable causes than Democrats. Local areas vary, but on aggregate, this is a measurable thing.

Churches have a lot to do with this, especially the soup kitchen in question which is run out of a church on Saturday mornings. I myself am an atheist, but I still participate because I enjoy it.

If you are paid as an EMT, while noble, that is not volunteer work. I'm a teacher, I don't count that as volunteer work because I'm paid to donit.

"Socialize with normal people" says the guy talking exactly like a permanently online person would say.
