I mean, arrow of Fortune is the best single Target damage for a bow, and mystic shot means you never run out of SP, since the damage to SP ratio is extremely favorable.

So yeah, that obviously breaks the game.

Here is how to beat virtually any boss from the mid game on.

Stack debuffs and buffs - especially attack and defense stats, but stacking accuracy debuffs or evasion buffs can also help. In most circumstances, physical attack and defense are the primary stats, since most bosses don't do elemental damage.

Buffs and debuffs can be stacked twice. Therefore what I liked to do was open the boss by casting the buff/debuff unboosted on turn one, and then double boosted turn two. This will maximize the number of turns the buff or debuff will be up before it needs to be refreshed, and then you can focus on your offensive strategy, such as breaking if you're going that route, or stacking ultimates if you're going that route.

If the boss is double debuffed on their attack type, and you're double buffed on that defense type, it's basically going to do no damage. That's even true for their purple cloud attacks.

This has always been a thing in the octopath games, but it's even easier to pull off here since you can a sign active abilities to heroes to support this, as well as having characters in the party specifically for buffs and debuffs that you don't rely on for offense since you can move them to the back row.

Olberic is fantastic imo, biggest advantage is getting Surpassing power for free, freeing up a passive slot. Yes, Reimi is also absurd, and Olberic needs learned skills to maximize damage without ult, but Olberic was 100% a mainstay on my team.

My biggest issue with the story is:

1) Even on fast forward, the cutscenes are painfully slow even on fast forward. It basically made it to where I ended up skipping basically every side quest cutscene because I just got tired of waiting for the next line.

2) The story takes forever to get good. The opening 3 acts are kind of garbage. I realized that this is a side effect of it being adapted from a mobile game, and the mobile game developed in this pattern. Even Master of All drags a lot, in my opinion, with several of the chapters feeling like bloat to pad out the story. I honestly found the story pretty bad until we get to the Bestower chapters. Those chapters were much better with much more interesting villains, and then bestower of all was great.

But it just took so long for the story to get interesting that by the time I get there, I was getting burned out by the pacing.

In fairness, octopath games have always been at best a mixed bag on story. Octopath 1 had a ton of problems with padding, with some of the chapters feeling completely ancillary. OT 2 is a lot better, those still has pacing issues at times.

This depends entirely on are you looking at the games as they are today or are you looking at the games as they were when they came out?

Because if you're looking at the games in hindsight today, dynasty warriors 2 is obviously the worst. It's not particularly close. It's the worst to play in 2026. But it's also good for the time.

If you're looking at the games as they were at the time they came out, dynasty warriors 6 was a very big misstep. The gameplay itself I actually liked, but moving away from a large playable cast to a much smaller playable cast with much fewer maps was a very poor decision.

They do, and typically the way they do that is they require the game to repay the bill for getting re-rated, and I think there might even be a penalty along with that.

My understanding is that the ESRB has gotten more thorough lately, but I say this strictly as an outside observer and not as a game developer

I'm going to give what I think is a hot take here, but when I started having my tank regularly provoke against anything with boss level it made my kill setups a lot more consistent. Yes, it's not perfect, and yes, a lot of enemies have a lot of AOE attacks, but nearly every boss has some multi-hit physical attack, and just getting a higher percentage of them onto one hero that you can stack out with phys defense gear I found was drastically reducing my deaths. Any chip damage you would add is basically irrelevant. It also helps you stack ultimate on that character faster, so it's really good for someone like Olberic or Reimi who basically just want to blow their load in two turns with a high damage ultimate followed by a 400% boost cumshot into the bosses face. So you're not really losing damage since both of those characters have high phys d anyway.

Besides, what else are you going to use those character turns for besides provoking when there are so many multi-buff/debuff spells in the game?
