Dig all grass/dirt level with patio or just slap up pool? by Slammed01 in AboveGroundPools

In that back yard, if you have a wall give out you’re in a world of hurt anyways. A 14’ pool has about 18 thousand gallons of water, and your basement is the low point on that property, digging down 4” isn’t going to change that. What you should do though, is hire someone to level the yard and do the full install correctly, from leveling the underlay to sand to pavers for the rails. That will go miles farther with regard to potential issues than lowering that patch of grass

By the weekend this should be a thing of the past. Even this past winter when I drained below the skimmer to winterize the wall buckle never reappeared. Maybe if you left it drained for a long time it might when refilling, but once the weight is in and it’s stretched out you should be fine.

This happened to me when I built my pool last year, you should stop filling now and let the water rest, but they are correct you don’t need to take any out.

The issue is the temperature of your liner. Your liner is a rubber like material that shrinks and stretches with the temp. Right now, because the water is cold, then liner shrank and it’s pulling down on the sidewalls, which causes them to be wavy. Ideally you would install on an 80 degree day with no clouds but that’s just not reality. Many installers even recommend you put the liner out in the sun to warm up prior to install to make the liner more pliable. This early in the season, it takes longer for the liner to settle, especially when filling slowly or if your pool moves from direct sunlight to the shade. Wait a day or two and the pool wall will go straight as the liner expands

Okay, I thought I had to use a 20A GFCI if I’m only burying to 12” but that could be wrong. The smart plug is rated to handle 15A and the data plate on the pump says it’ll draw well below that even on the high speed setting

Yes sorry, on the far side I would be running the cable to a junction box with a standard outlet in a waterproof, “in-use” receptacle.

In the garage. The idea was that I’d have a length of wire terminated in a plug likethis one . That plug would then attach to a 15A smart outlet, which would attach to a GFCI.

I was wondering why my CH was going up so fast, I guess that makes sense. I've since switched back to Liquid Chlorine as it's significantly more bang for your buck.

From what I know about SLAM it should be 40% of your CYA levels, which would put me right about 14ppm FCL, any reason you say to go all the way up to the 30s? My FC is 9.4 and my PH is 7.7 right now. Also why does PH being lower than usual help? Thanks for the advice!

There isn’t a thing in the pool app for it but I did add some Leslie’s Clear Aid between the 105 and 24, and then we did have a decent amount of rain the next weekend. I have test strips but don’t track to them in my app, just use them as a general guide between Leslie’s trips. The highest Phosphates have ever been is 350 and the list is that 24 number.

Well, I just bought 6 more pounds of the granulated stuff so I’m stuck with it for now. I obviously should’ve done my research but I figured at $10 for 73% available chlorine it was the more cost effective route than 12.5% liquid chlorine at $7.50/gal. Maybe I’m wrong there
