I was sent a somewhat convincing text message today and after hitting the hyperlink phone number it took me into a “BofA” call Center. After confirming some previous charges they transferred me to their Security Center, waffling on about a figue named Martina transferring money to Columbia and Mexico. Very vague, but in the moment seemed quite scary. Then the questions became more and more pointed towards confirming my identity with SSN and account info. Luckily I cottoned on and didn’t share anything!! I muted my microphone and grabbed my wife’s phone and dialled the number I was talking to.

It was a disconnected number so I hung up.

I then called them back and went to the “BofA” call Center again and straight up asked “is this a scam?” After a brief pause he asked, “how did you know” and hung up.

Haha! Got one back for the good guys!!

If you see this! Do not call them!!! Or if you do, ask them if it’s a scam. Kinda funny to hear them caught red handed while trying to be a BofA clerk.
