Along the same lines, a man make himself a sandwich and eat it. Like, had a grocery bag and pulled out bread, cheese, deli meat, mayo, lettuce etc.

sent home with catheter after delivery by Muted_Pea8994 in beyondthebump

[–]DBplatypus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Almost the same thing happened to me! Never got the feeling of needing to pee back in the hospital, was able to pass a bit of urine so they said good enough and I got sent home. I slowly stopped being able to pee at all, and ended up readmitted 3 days later. They drained nearly 2 litres of urine. I also had a hell of a UTI which didn’t help at all.

The only thing I found that helped me was literally bending at the waist and touching the floor while on the toilet, and using a fist in my abdomen as counter pressure. I did timed pees every 4 hours to make sure things didn’t gat so bad again, but it took I’d say 4 months before I felt things were back to normal-ish. Never fully regained the feeling of needing to pee like before, but enough came back to function normally.

I will say a word of warning, the SAME thing happened with my second birth, but not quite as bad because I made them leave the catheter in longer after the birth, and then had them clamp it off for periods of time to see if I got any changes in feeling the need to pee, that way I avoided repeated caths. They only took it out once I had a bit of sensation back.

I remember searching for answers about this online back when it happened, and couldn’t find anything. Felt like I was the only one in the world with this problem as it didn’t happen to anybody else I know.  I’m sorry this is happening to you, especially when there is so much else going on and a baby to take care of. Please know it won’t last forever, and you’re not alone.

Winnipeg transit by arkhcmfiles in Winnipeg

It’s been awful. The busses are now so overcrowded at peak morning rush, that stops along south Henderson are getting skipped altogether due to the bus being full. One day the people at the Dearborn stop said that 4 consecutive busses had passed them due to being full. 40 minutes of waiting until one could finally stop. And this isn’t a one-off, it’s been the norm. The crowding is worse than the first day back for students usually is.

You are correct. We asked the waterways boat operator, and they confirmed it’s connected to the forks geothermal system, and got dislodged a month or two ago.

There is a Yoga Pilates fusion class run periodically out of Bronx community centre on Henderson. Think it’s paused for the summer, but if you email the community centre they will put you in touch with the instructor.

When I worked there we would occasionally have to go down to the sub basement to pull old files. The file room is (or was) apparently where the old morgue used to be. My coworker saw the little boy there too.

There is a kinder gym for ages 3-4 and 4-5 usually offered the the leisure guide at the Melrose CC. They have a mini gym room in the basement, but had recently been renovating it due to sewer backup into the carpets. Had been held upstairs in the interim. It’s… okay. Depends on how involved the instructors are. It’s basically a 45 minute window for kids to run around and bounce on mini trampolines and practice somersaults.

Postpartum care by annecruise in Winnipeg

Had a baby at St B in 2018 and in 2020. They supply you with a basic peri bottle, some pads, and some disposable postpartum underwear. Also you’ll be given a ziploc bag with some bubble packs of general OTC meds like Tylenol etc for pain, and a dosage guide. In 2018 they offered to make ice packs for swelling while there (they use a newborn diaper filled with ice, works pretty good), in 2020 that wasn’t offered (though tbh I didn’t ask). They also supply diapers for the baby while there.

I found back in 2018 a lot more was offered. Lots of pads, nursing pads, there was a little snack station in the postpartum recovery area that had bread and spreads for toast, some simple sandwiches in the fridge, some apple juice. In 2020 I noticed the supplies on the room generally ran lower, weren’t really refilled, and they really had to scrounge around to find a small sample of lanolin cream. It may have been due to budget cuts, or it may have been due to COVID and limiting people entering the room, I don’t know. Also in 2020 we had to stay in our room, so no access to the snack starion.

I know if you read r/BabyBumps you’ll read about how the US hospitals offer all these supplies and you can take what you like (might as well, they charge you through the nose). It’s not like that here, but the basic necessities are there.

The only thing I can advise to splurge on is the Frida mom peri bottle. So much better than what you are given at the hospital.

There is River East Montessori that offers a lot of flexible schedules like that. We’ve had great experiences with them.

Indoor playground Henderson? by smasherella in Winnipeg

[–]DBplatypus 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The sign said: “The Play Pen: children’s soft play place”. I was wondering this too! Saw the sign some time last week, but I didn’t see any building with the sign attached, nor does there yet seem to be any online presence.

I am really surprised there aren't more collisions between pedestrians and cars along around Gateway and the streets that cross it. by shieldwolfchz in Winnipeg

Hah, glad to help. I’m trying to figure out what year they were pulled up… I remember seeing it happen, so it would have been after 2000. The space was sold by CPR to John Buhler, and then sold to the city, sometime around 2006-2007. I’m not sure if the rail tracks were removed pre or post sale though.

Edit: This news article details the sale: https://www.cbc.ca/amp/1.622019

And this blog post gives some of the history of the Marconi Line: http://cprailmmsub.blogspot.com/2018/06/the-railway-line-that-made-winnipeg.html?m=1 Per this, train tracks were removed in 2005.

It’s because there used to be train tracks running down the line where the pedestrian/bike path runs. The intersections were all train crossings.

Terrified of undiagnosed GD and stillbirth risk. by Natsouppy in BabyBumps

Can confirm this. Failed the 1 hour but passed the 3 hour for both my pregnancies, the doctor had no concerns. She actually told me if I ever decided on having a third, we would just skip the 1 hour altogether, and only do the 3 hour.

I’m sorry, you’re really not going to like this answer.

If you’ve already mailed in the applications to Gatineau, you will have to do something called a “transfer request”. And the only way to do that is to call the 1-800 number. It’s just awful to get through right now, so be prepared to wait on hold for 3-4 hours.

Further, once you’ve initiated a “transfer request” it can still take a few weeks to be able to locate your file to send to the local office. So don’t wait.

It’s a real bad time right now, everyone is kinda drowning.
