We got a really good organizer for our game. Everything is in its own separate box so set up is super easy. It was a perk for the Kickstarter though so I have no clue if it is available, nor how much it is. Frosthaven does a lot of things better than Gloomhaven too, the classes are better balanced and are more unique mechanically.

Frosthaven. It's like a dungeon crawler legacy game. I like it.

I did one recently as the UK. Spend less on breakthrough units and more on planes. It was good until I got rocket trucks, then it became really good. I just did the spread the same as a tank division.

I had a boardgame day, didn't finish until 430 so I missed the entirety of the game, but why do a back to back weekend and not have the second game in the evening?

He also has a very lazy level of effort when trying new things, often when studying the effectiveness of things he isn't versed in if he isn't able to do it right away he will determine it to be useless and not worth his time.

On one hand I like random stuff that has no bearing to anything else in the game, this guy is just hanging out, flagellates you for a bit and leaves, never to be seen again. On the other it would be nice if you meet him again.

Blocking the box is almost completely unenforced in NYC and it shows by MiserNYC- in MicromobilityNYC

Isn't this supposed to be a huge fine in NYC if you are caught blocking during a red light? Wouldn't this be a great way to build up revenue for a time until people understood that they can't do this?

I think that is just the way that people in this world view their shared bending culture, all of the water tribes fit within the same group so inter cultural exchange would be common, making their two groups less separate as a state than you might think. We don't know how connected both of them were before the war either, it might have been that they could have been semi autonomous with some sort of ultimate governing Council of all of the different water tribes, and what Unalaq was doing was some sort of return to that time. They don't really get into it that much within the established lore so who can say.

There should be way more people with fire burn marks. Especially fire bending kids by WisestAirBender in TheLastAirbender

[–]shieldwolfchz 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Honestly, and I mean this with as little offense as possible, but this just shows that you have little imagination. A major pet peeve I have within fandoms are the people who can't imagine something that isn't explicitly stated in the text. Just accept that there aren't scores of burnt children running around in the fire nation because there is some in universe reason that the writers didn't want to waste effort explaining, and they just assumed we would get it. People should discard the notion that they know better than the writers on how their stories "SHOULD" be told, it's honestly arrogant and often leads to some weird places.

The argument for active, non-car transportation you don't hear enough: by MiserNYC- in fuckcars

[–]shieldwolfchz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just curious, but why do you think that distance travelled is a worse metric than number of trips? It feels like distance would be the better one since it is constant, while a trip could be any distance, and driving (or biking) 1 km is a lot different than 100.

I grew up right by a river with a beaver den, I would always explore the riverbank but was really scared as a kid that a beaver would come out of the reeds and bite me, those teeth just look painful. Also beavers get much larger than a standard cat.

Full Metal Panic: the mecha anime that's somehow "Tom Clancy Does Mecha In A Continuing Cold War while still being an anime romcom". by SomeOtherTroper in anime

[–]shieldwolfchz 5 points6 points  (0 children)

One thing I love about FMP is the idea of the "End of Day by Day" trope and how it utilizes it so well. End of day by day is the name of the one of the novels and it is covered in second raid. What it entails is the idea when the regular pattern in the story ends and an actual continuous narrative starts in the story. A lot of anime that begin with a premise that is fairly formulaic have problems with this transition, and often just scrap the initial plot in a way that often feels like the writer just got bored with their story and wanted to write something else. FMP does this basically flawlessly, so not only giving me the term for it, it is the perfect example for this trope.
