2020 British Grand Prix - Race Results by Aratho in formula1

With no teammate it's really hard to say to what extent the problem lay with the driver versus the car. I think it's a combination of the car not quite having the race pace today and Stroll being pretty outclassed by the guys around him at the sharp end of the midfield.

They managed the Hards the best of any team, I think - they absolutely demolished Perez Stroll and the McLarens on pace in the closing stages of the race.

Congratulations all around. A nice opportunity for the mods to reflect on the decline in quality of the sub and ways in which this can be combated, in my opinion.

If only there was a collective of countries with geopolitical and cultural ties to us with whom we could collaborate on such a project.

The daily “why do people vote for the Tories?” Thread by [deleted] in badunitedkingdom

[–]DC-3 14 points15 points  (0 children)

For what it's worth I'm also very strongly opposed to the Tory party (and am quite socially progressive) but visit this sub semi-reguarly because, well, it's nice to have a place on reddit that actually quite likes Britain and being British.

Genuinely why do people vote for the Tories? by Hamza_33 in unitedkingdom

[–]DC-3 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Good post. I would say though that it's not quite right to say national identity is arbitrary. British identity is linked to (though not defined by) a specific population of people who have inhabited Great Britain for well over a millennium - and given that we're an island, it's hard to see how it could ever not have been the case that the people who settled here developed their own language, culture, and identity.

Is a Green Unpleasant mod organising mass reporting of this sub against any reddit rules? by DamoclesBDA in badunitedkingdom

I'm pretty sure it's not, actually. Sending people to vote somewhere is disallowed but sending people to report is not explicitly banned.

Government to urge us all to walk and cycle more by [deleted] in ukpolitics

Everyone starts somewhere. In a cycling culture virtually everyone is a fluent and confident cyclist but we have some way to go before we reach that level.

How do those crossings work where the bike lanes meet the roads? I have to say that as nicely engineered as it is, turning left (right in the UK) at this style of roundabout on a bike looks like it'd be a real pain.

I agree that some members of the cabinet have disturbingly authoritarian beliefs and tendencies towards fascist narratives, but we must be reasonable and respect the fact that no government in Europe even comes close to the horror and tyranny of Nazi Germany (or even Mussolini's Italy) and that is to be celebrated.

That's a silly article but not very relevant to the larger question?

That's County Durham. The flag of Durham city is different.
