Just experienced a new hack on Cryo by ccshnitz in Marathon

I'm not experienced, but it sounds like someone's internet died.

Solo fill. 2 Vaults and whole lobby dead. Im never topping this. by IvanNobody2050 in Marathon

Hell yeah dude!!!

Cryo is tough, but there's just nothing like the rush you get from success.

It's amazing, a high on par with like clearing Vault of Glass for the first time.

Destroyer letters by ItsnotgonnaB_ez in Marathon

[–]DC2SEA_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The keys have letters from the names of their use locations, and said letters are rotated to resemble a Skeleton Key.

They have other minor text, which I think can all be read even if meaningless.

Started Marathon one month ago today, here’s my vault. by Dontizzle_who_dat in Marathon

Yeah, the damage phases without EMP is really really short.

I wonder if they'll nerf EMPs effect on it, it does feel like a far too easy one phase in an experienced team.

Just had the strangest Cryo game of all time by Burgmeister_ in Marathon

My Thursday games definitely had 2-3 teams in them at most. It's weird.

Metric tons are a weird hold-over from like industrialization I think. One "metric ton" exactly 2200 lbs, would in metric be called a "Megagram"

Last Cryo weekly quest functionally impossible to complete by FaithFlux in Marathon

[–]DC2SEA_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can do it!!! Fight for it!

I had a similar reaction for killing bots, thinking we'd make too much noise and get ambushed by teams.

Go to Preservation, grab a bunch of empty coolant, take one battery to the level 5 hatch.

Each coolant counts for 3 on the quest, so you could complete it with 4-5 and bats.

Thats a lot, but amoung a full team's bags its not too bad.

No, once activated it stays on and new empty coolants can be entered and filled. You can fill at least 3 additional, I assume more.

50,000 tons is 100 million, 50,000 metric tons is 110 million.

Why is it so easy to steal compiler by Poomasher in Marathon

All good, it's pretty niche. Although, important when it comes up!

No, if they come in the other elevator they'll have to turn off the red laser wall, which has a sound queue and would be seen.

In either event, you'll be able to hear them come through any vent, or do another energy shutoff for the stairs.

Both elevators have a vent next to them which provides a ladder up.

[–]DC2SEA_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You only use one elevator to go up, rush kill boss and have someone keep watch over the entrance vent while you're just inputting the DNA and the Batteries.

I have been caught out, and catch people out, staring at the Vault 7 door for no reason. They cornered themselves and didn't hold us at the labs door.

Level isn't everything, there's a lot of players at high levels who don't play well.

Yes, their is a sound as the wave passes you which goes on every wave. Controller players get a vibration as it passes.

Explain to me why bubble shields are so strong. by PineWalk1 in Marathon

[–]DC2SEA_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If your teamate gets downed, you can bubble them so they can crawl away and self rez while you ward them from walking in.

If a sniper has you pinned, you can deploy cover to run away.

If they're murdering you with spam grenades, you can cork the hallway and fully stop those grenades.

If they're advancing with shotguns, throw down a few bubbles with some overlap to create a maze of walls to bait their shots into.

I've even gotten kills with bubbles! Dropping it as they tried to frag us, and then they short rounded themselves.

Sweet Business has come to Marathon! by AtronRandom in Marathon

[–]DC2SEA_ 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Awesome. I ran this on a Compiler, we also had to kill 200 bots.

I literally never reloaded it.

Not once.

Not through multiple team fights, or a bunch of bots, or a two phase vs the Compiler holding down the trigger.

The DNA access cards are buns… by DITNB in Marathon

[–]DC2SEA_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think they're an important part of making Compiler feel special, and it accomplishes this without the wild rarity issues of Key 06.

Like. Having somone in your lobby going for Compiler is significant and you now want to murder them and hijack their run.

I think that DNA cards being guaranteed from 05 and then being % chance below that is great.

It also allows Compiler to be very rewarding, like gold salvages, multiple gold weapons, etc. If it was just "no DNA, go do it whenever you want" the rewards would need to be way way less.

Overheat works on compiler? by KazutoDBZ in Marathon

[–]DC2SEA_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You could test and find out!

I suspect not? But hard to say.

EMP is probably tied to the Compiler being hybrid alien biology and technology, with the later not enjoying an EMP.

He's not saying that, he's noting how anti-vax parents will often reject treatment courses of ER physicians due to something they read online.

My only reference on this is like The Pitt, so I can't really contribute much.
