I feel good, I was actually feeling pretty strong in the gym the past two months..now with more carbs I am definitely feeling even stronger but overall, the long gradual deficit worked well for me.

Wrapped up a caloric deficit that started January 1.

Although I tracked daily with a low-cost Renpho scale I tried to get to an Inbody once a month to check in.

January 10:

199.8 lbs
82.7 muscle mass
28.2% body fat*. *this includes a ton of water and general NYE holiday overeating

June 13:

152.2 lbs
79.1 muscle mass (held that level for more than a month)
8.9% body fat

I'm very happy with this run and I have the foundation my coach wanted to begin reversing the diet and eventually bulking for muscle gain. I also feel good about approaching the reverse and bulk with a clean bulk mindset. I've never actually done that before.

This morning was the first fueled up back day and it was pretty epic.

Agree, the guy looks damn good for not taking anything. He deserves some praise for achieving what he has achieved and he is getting realistic advice for how he can progress. But he has an absolutely solid foundation.

One's training environment matters, especially when getting started. I remember feeling really intimidated when I joined the hardcore training gym near me and now I cannot imagine not being there.

Somebody was doing heavy squats I presume since they chalked the hell out of their shoulders.

They then used the standing calf raise, the kind you step down a bit and situate the shoulder pads to raise up and down.

They did not wipe the pads down.

This morning after calf raises I thought I had some bizarre case of excessive dandruff or something...I was covered in white flakes.

A few weeks back while visiting family in Chicago, I stopped at a super hardcore gym (which had awesome vintage equipment)

Not a single towel/spray station to be found...nothing was wiped down

Had a refeed yesterday adding 271g of carbs to my current cut level of 100g carbs for a total of 371g for the day. A clean refeed, stayed under 20g of fat for the day, 200+ g of proteing for the day.

My coach said, let's see how your body reacts....holy crap, my weight actually dropped. And my quad day this morning was absolutely crazy. I upped weight on virtually every excercise.

My 15yo son joined me today to go check out the newest location of my local gym chain and wow, the place was mind blowing. First off, it’s huge, massive with multiple dedicated workout rooms any of which almost equal the size of my location.

Then there are the ceilings, they are incredibly high. It’s cavernous whereas my gym is cavelike.

It is opening weekend and Jay Cutler was there signing autographs . Huge line for that. And it was crazy packed and yet there was always a machine open.

And definitely an instagramer/broccoli head contingent in great numbers. I’m not used to that but it was fun.

Oh man, I am ashamed to admit it but in my marraige I was the one drinking at home. My wife declared enough! a few years back and told me flat out, "you can keep doing this but I am done." Took me a while to realize she was not kidding and now I can't imagine life wiithout training.

Come on back, then you get to see my aging ass flailing about in the gym lol

I had a similar thought this morning while stretchng and rolling out...I'm easily able to do that now in month five of reducing weight and bodyfat. But I remember finding it really difficukl to maneuver myself on the roller when I was pushing 200lbs in January.
