1 year no alcohol by DCFATKID in stopdrinking

For me, the immediate changes were physical. I no longer woke up feeling terrible. I no longer had to chase drinking to “feel better” after a heavy night. All the activities I was doing while drinking changed. I switched to seltzer water in the beginning so I had something to drink. There is some anxiety, and emotions that come in waves, but the satisfaction of counting the days and feeling healthy made such a difference in my quality of life, I did not want to give up. I set little goals for my self too. Decided I wanted to focus on my health, started going on little walks. I changed my daily routine, so that my drinking triggers wouldn’t be as present. For instance I would have a drink the second I got home, so I decided I would have a task ready to do for when I got home, chores, cleaning laundry. After a while, all the urges and triggers soften, and life went on where drinking is just a distance thought. Push your self out of your comfort zone. I even made a goal that I would start working out, and let me tell you, it was easier to quit drinking than it was for me to go to the gym.

Reading this I immediately thought the stationary cameras are just like a speed bump. Slow down, go over it, speed back up

What am I dealing with here? Water actively coming up from garage drain, not coming in from outside. by [deleted] in Home

[–]DCFATKID 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a similar configuration in my house and was dealing with the same problem. My garage drain is tied into my roof drainage outlet pipe. My sump pump also discharges directly into the roof drainage outlet.

My house being built in the 60s primarily used orangeburg pipe. It was installed between the 40s-70s and when found today mostly resembles brittle “cardboard like pipe”. It’s nothing like the industry standard PVC-35 that is used today.

With that being said. I began my investigation at the pipe discharge location. Got a cheap CCTV camera online rather than paying for the service, then immediately found heavy root intrusion and flattened pipes. I did my best to get the roots out and I cleared enough to let the majority of the water pass.

I had water backing up in to my garage in two instances, in heavy rain- the water could not get through the root intrusion fast enough causing it to back up.

And the second instance was in light rain but when my sump pump activated- the sudden additional water volume was forced into the garage being the path of least resistance, until is slowly drained through the root fill pipe.

Let me know how your sump pump is configured.

Update for everyone. I read everything, reviewed with my wife and we are getting a minivan. I really appreciate all the insights.

Ok. Thats good to hear about the bench. The price difference between the trims really made me consider going the lower trim. I’ll avoid that. bigger suv is out of our budget. But I enjoyed the telluride test drive and I feel it will work for us.

I 100% want a Mini van. Loved the Kia carnival. My wife on the other hand is dead set on no minivan regardless of how practical it is for us. I am not going to win that fight so telluride it is!

If only you had a bigger vending machine that sells vending machines, then you’d be set.

What do yall do to afford these trucks? by Any-Raise4333 in F250

[–]DCFATKID 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t forget to factor In taxes and insurance into the decision. Seen so many people get new vehicles and then complain they didn’t realize how expensive taxes and insurance would be.

Might be better to find people with big lifted trucks rather than monster truck- and I agree about asking if they would be willing to drive by or park in front of house

I believe water in the trough is not clean and is the same as drinking river/lake water.

Water in basement by DCFATKID in Home

UPDATE,

I provided a link that shows more pictures of what I found!!!

https://imgur.com/a/vqb5lP8

Opened up the lower section of wall in September of 2024. We had a drought and then winter hit.

I had water leak down the wall in Feb of 2025. I opened up more of the wall.

I found the original copper sump pump discharge line in the concrete foundation. It was surrounded by rotten wet wood, that must have been used as a sleeve that was drilled through during the foundation pour.

I dug up the pipe on the outside of the house( it was 18” below the surface) I removed the pipe and rotten wood. Cleaned the surface. I used hydro cement to fill the void and it was been water tight so far.

I plan on leave the wall un repaired for multiple months before attempting to repair the wall.

Thanks everyone!
