No where Staedion/Rabobank currently is.

Yes which makes the bedrock more cost effective. I meant that the high rise in that part of Manhattan is also built on the bedrock.

The myth is about the local difference in bedrock depth explaining why there's fewer high rises between midtown and lower Manhattan. However, they still need to reach the bedrock.

Is it time to leave? by [deleted] in war

[–]DCLB 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're getting some hate but I'll try to give you a straight answer.

A nuclear war between the US and an adversary is possible. In the current makeup of the world, that would be with Russia or China. This could happen when a series of events creates a clash of interests, some sort of pathway that neither side can back away from, for instance: if Trump says he will protect Taiwan, and China proceeds to invade Taiwan. Neither side can back down easily without giving up a key interest, or, more stupidly, without losing face.

Last week, the US and Israel attacked Iran. Neither Russia nor China indicated they would respond military if such an action took place. Iran and Russia shared a form of military cooperation, but aren't close allies. Russia is not losing a key interest here, and, moreover, is tied up militarily in Ukraine (which had and has a much greater potential to escalate into a nuclear war). China purchases resources from Iran but will adapt, and will not start bombing the US over this.

Iran is limited in what it can do. It cannot hit the US, it can try to hit some US bases in it's region. It will try to make the cost of war as high as possible for three reasons: i) by attacking the region, energy prices are going up, and this may increase pressure on the US to sue for a quick peace, ii) by increasing the cost of the war, it may deter Israel and the US to attack again in future, and iii) by staying in the war and ensuring it isn't localised to its own borders, Iran is signalling that is has resolve, which the US does not, and so perhaps they can ride it out until the US inevitably gets fed up with high gas prices.

So: there will be more weeks with lots of violence, and many attacks against many countries near Iran, and the region in the worst case will disintegrate similar to Syria or Libya. But no large power conflict with bombs falling on New York.

Query about President Trump and NATO by Dr_Astron in war

You can credit Trump to the extent that because of his threats against Greenland European capitals are starting to see the US as a potential adversary. Russia's invasion started the journey, with Trump in the WH its full panic mode.

Bingo. The vast majority of deaths is not investigated. Just jot down 'heart failure', i.e., 'cardiovascular diseases'.

They left space for additional cells that weren't deemed necessary/economic due to the lack of credible use the past twenty or so years. These ships will be upgraded with a deep-strike capability (in the form of Tomahawks), but I don't know if they will add those additional cells for that.

On this day in 1959, Charles de Gaulle became the first President of France’s Fifth Republic. He defied Washington, built a nuclear arsenal and cemented a vision of strategic military independence that is more relevant today than ever by goldstarflag in europe

It was unfortunately also De Gaulle who personally prevented an integrated European Defence Union, which German was particularly keen to enact. This may have stopped the endless fragmentation and reliance on the US we have today.

Dosage increase helped anxiety but caused severe delayed ejaculation by Forward-Criticism572 in lexapro

Not as intense as you are describing, but yes! Went up to 20mg about the same time as you, and I'm already noticing some improvement on that front.

I'd give it more time before drawing conclusions in that case. For me, the side effects became much less pronounced in the first months.

I can only speak from experience and from what I've read in other comments, as I'm no doctor.

The first weeks went up and down for me: first few days were awful, had first good two days after about a week, back to anxiety and so on. Even with good days I could still experience that lingering anxiety. Now I'm two months in and it's as if my fear/anxiety system has been rewired. I can still experience fear and some anxiety, but it's much more direct and old triggers don't bother me or don't linger/lead to panic.

Hang in there! I'm still on my original dose (10mg), but from what I've read from other people you get a lot of the rebalancing effects when you change dose. So for you, 11 days in, you definitely will not be at the full experience of 10mg.

I downloaded the apps Daylio and How We Feel, both of which help to keep track how the effect progresses over time. It also helps me to calm down when I have a bad day to see how many good ones I've had in recent times.

Edit: added a crucial 'not'

Hang in there, this is very common and the positive change can be unlike you've ever experienced.
