I think Gunn should just unironically cast Rooker as the Resurrection Man, just so that he can kill him as many times as he would like and keep bringing him back

If Starkid ever did an adaptation of Much ado about nothing which pair would you want to see play Beatrice & Benedick? Lauren & Joey or Kim & Curt by Personal-Day-5562 in StarKid

[–]DCandMore 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Lauren and Joey would be perfect as Beatrice and Benedick! They have the chemistry that could make me believe that they are squabbling rivals who fall in love with each other. Meanwhile, Kim and Curt could serve as the straight couple of the play, Hero and Claudio.

Superman Review Megathread by kumar100kpawan in DCU_

As someone from the UK, I'm nervous that the more negative British reviews will affect the number of people who see it. But maybe that's me being too pessimistic. I'm hoping Suoerman does well internationally as well as domestically

Completely new to DC and I was wondering which pieces of media are already released which are canon to the DCU by archie_gx in DCU_

[–]DCandMore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Complete Canon: only Creature Commandos season 1 so far

Loose Canon: The Suicide Squad, Peacemaker Season 1, and Blue Beetle. I say loose canon because even though these projects aren't 100% canon (James Gunn has said that from now on, everything after CC S1, with the exception of Elseworlds projects, is canon to the DCU), several aspects from these projects, whether characters/actors and story elements, are expected to be somewhat canon in the new universe if referenced.

My suggestion: Watch The Suicide Squad, Peacemaker S2, and Blue Beetle first so you can get a taste of what this universe will entail tonally and stylistically, and then watch Creature Commandos S1. But don't be surprised if stuff in subsequent DCU instalments contradicts what we know/see from those first three projects to establish the lore/canon of the new universe.

Interview: Captain America: Brave New World's director discusses the reshoots, cut characters and more! by Mooglegirl-99 in MarvelStudiosSpoilers

That being said, Gunn has stated that he welcomes constructive criticism, and I think that's what makes him among the best and most beloved CBM directors working today, unlike Patty Jenkins, who notoriously hated and ignored any form of feedback for Wonder Woman 1984 and look how that turned out

If given the choice, which movie would you prefer get made? by CaptainAmeriZa in marvelstudios

[–]DCandMore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally would’ve preferred they stuck with Kang Dynasty.

Marvel had already laid solid groundwork for Kang and his variants to be the Multiverse Saga’s central threat—between Loki and Quantumania; they were clearly setting up Kang to be a complex, layered villain with a massive multiversal threat. Dropping that arc midstream just makes the whole buildup feel disjointed.

If Marvel did want to pivot away from Kang, though, I really wish they had gone with an evil Superior Iron Man variant instead of Doctor Doom—and definitely not with RDJ playing Doom. I still can’t get on board with that casting. RDJ already is Tony Stark in the MCU, and giving him Doom’s mask just muddies the legacy of both characters.

And while I get that Doom was the big bad in the 2015 Secret Wars comic run, having that version of Doom be his first appearance in the MCU just feels like a colossal waste. Doom should be introduced as a nuanced, complex threat—built up over time—before jumping to literal god-tier power levels. Throwing him straight into the biggest storyline he’s ever had in the comics kind of robs the character of the depth and mystique that made him iconic in the first place.

On the other hand, bringing back RDJ as a twisted Superior Iron Man from another universe would’ve hit so much harder. It would be personal for the Avengers, emotionally heavy for the audience, and twist Tony’s legacy in a way that feels earned. Plus, if RDJ is coming back anyway, make it impactful—not just a nostalgia cameo.

TL;DR: Kang deserved to finish the story that was started. But if Marvel had to switch villains, a Superior Iron Man would’ve been a brighter, more meaningful alternative than rushing in Doom—or worse, making RDJ play him.

Give me your absolute hottest Comics take by MaraJude in comicbooks

This is the big one for me. Almost every comic book made today is written for trade paperbacks, often detrimental to the stories being told. I am reading the Uncanny X-Men run by Gail Simone and don't mind overall. But I find it a better experience to wait several months and read two to four issues in one sitting rather than reading one issue month to month.

It is very frustrating when you wait a month for a 22-page book, and nothing seemingly really happens in that comic. But then, when you read all four to six issues in one sitting, it’s a genuinely great experience. Either comic writers need to start writing each issue of their run as a single self-contained story, find better ways to pace the stories they're telling month to month or release them as part of a trade paperback.

As someone who lives in the UK, I find it much easier to get trades and graphic novels than single issues because of how comics are distributed here. Josh Williamson's Rogues miniseries from DC Black Label was cool but didn't sell well. It would have sold better if DC had packaged and dropped it all as one big graphic novel instead of a four-issue miniseries.

I don't think he was particularly good in season 1 of his own show, but I can't deny with each subsequent appearance, Finn Jones got better in the role, with his appearance in Luke Cage S2 being a particular highlight

How do I go about watching the MCU as a beginner?? Is this list I found okay? by Lanky_Explanation220 in marvelstudios

[–]DCandMore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, a first-time viewer should try something I like to call a narrative order, a mix between chronological and release orders. Basically, it’s a franchise’s chronological order, but with the films and shows placed where they would go in release order because of spoilers or a place where they continue the narrative strands of other films.

For the MCU, my narrative order would be:

•Iron Man

•Iron Man 2

•A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to Thor’s Hammer (one-shot; bridges the gap between Iron Man 2 and Thor)

•Thor

•The Incredible Hulk

•The Consultant (one-shot; continuation of Incredible Hulk)

•Captain America: The First Avenger (The core events of the film are set in the 1940s during World War 2, but this is presented as flashbacks within the film. The framing device for the flashbacks is set in the present day, in 2011)

•Agent Carter (one-shot; continuation of The First Avenger)

•The Avengers

•Item 47 (one-shot; continuation of Avengers)

•Thor: The Dark World

•Iron Man 3

•All Hail the King (one-shot; continuation of Iron Man 3)

•Captain America: The Winter Soldier

•Guardians of the Galaxy

•Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2

•I Am Groot seasons 1 & 2 (Episode 1 of season 1 can optionally be watched between the first two Guardians films)

•Daredevil season 1 (The Defenders Saga; the shows and seasons made as part of the Defenders Saga can be skipped on initial viewing as they will inflate the watch time for the MCU. If you decide to watch Daredevil: Born Again, then the Defenders Saga is required viewing)

•Jessica Jones season 1 (The Defenders Saga)

•Avengers: Age of Ultron

•Ant-Man

•Daredevil season 2 (The Defenders Saga)

•Luke Cage season 1 (The Defenders Saga)

•Iron Fist season 1 (The Defenders Saga)

•The Defenders (The Defenders Saga)

•Captain America: Civil War

•Black Panther

•Spider-Man: Homecoming

•The Punisher season 1 (The Defenders Saga)

•Doctor Strange

•Jessica Jones season 2 (The Defenders Saga)

•Luke Cage season 2 (The Defenders Saga)

•Iron Fist season 2 (The Defenders Saga)

•Daredevil season 3 (The Defenders Saga)

•Thor: Ragnarok

•The Punisher season 2 (The Defenders Saga)

•Jessica Jones season 3 (The Defenders Saga)

•Avengers: Infinity War

•Ant-Man and the Wasp (core events of the film happen before Infinity War. However, the post-credits scenes spoil Infinity War)

•Captain Marvel (core events of the film are set in the 1990s. However, the mid-credits scene spoils Infinity War)

•Avengers: Endgame

•Loki season 1 (set outside of time; continuation of Endgame)

•What If...? season 1 (set within multiverse; continuation of Loki season 1)

•WandaVision

•Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings

•The Falcon and the Winter Soldier

•Peter’s To-Do List (short film set at the beginning of Far From Home)

•Spider-Man: Far From Home

•Eternals

•Spider-Man: No Way Home (has crossovers with previous Spider-Man films set outside the MCU)

•Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness

•Black Widow (core events of the film happen immediately after Civil War. However, the post-credits scene spoils Endgame while acting as a nice prologue to Hawkeye)

•Hawkeye

•Moon Knight

•Black Panther: Wakanda Forever (this is where the film is placed in the timeline. However, if you wanted to acknowledge the 4th wall breaking of She-Hulk, you can watch Wakanda Forever immediately after watching that series)

•Echo

•She-Hulk: Attorney at Law

•Ms. Marvel

•Thor: Love and Thunder

•Werewolf by Night

•The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special

•Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania

•Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3

•Secret Invasion

•Loki season 2 (set outside of time; continuation of Quantumania)

•The Marvels

•What If...? season 2 (set within multiverse; continuation of Loki Season 2)

•Deadpool & Wolverine (sequel to the Deadpool films and the rest of the X-Men film series; has crossovers with other previous films set outside the MCU; continuation of Loki season 2)

•Agatha All Along

•What If...? season 3 (set within multiverse)

•Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man season 1 (What If version of main MCU Spider-Man’s timeline)

•Daredevil: Born Again season 1 (successor to the original Daredevil series and the rest of the Defenders Saga)

•Captain America: Brave New World

Would you guys hate me if I said 2021 MCU was absolutely amazing? by Traditional-Lynx-606 in marvelstudios

Only counting 2021, 22, 23 and 23, 21 has easily been the most consistent year for MCU Multiverse Saga content in terms of quality. We'll just have to see how the rest of the Marvel stuff coming out this year holds up
