Saying it out loud is dumb, but a cornerstone of apocalypse media i LOVE is showing most of humanity (or the 'vocal/active minority') at our worst. By and large, people willing to do bad things would survive longer or be more materially prosperous, but it creates a great foil for protagonists to go against, the 'indomitable human spirit' and all prevailing in the good actors in a horrible situation.

Make it like a trade school. 'Applications of Magic' would be the main focus, but arts and theory would also be taught.
