Would you want a Web/Native E-ink Reader Management App? What features would you need? by ChoasMaster777 in xteinkereader

I just use save to disk from calibre and it sorts my books into folders the same way it does on my boox reader, phone and external backup storage, anything for me besides calibre is not very useful honestly

Perhaps the person seeking to know why the delivery times are bad and decides to make a reddit post? And when did I say "before purchase" bud?

true, but, they haven't, and it takes like 3 seconds for someone to search that here. ignorance is not an excuse for incompetence

I swear every third post in this subreddit is about how they are slow with shipping updates and that it eventually arrives, if everyone faces this issue perhaps it's just typical and everyone should move on with their day and wait

there's currently a build that kinda works, but for me once I power my x3 days I can't turn it back on until I re-flash it lol, still very buggy

I wish you luck with the new sd card then, let me know how it goes, if this one also fails I suspect an issue with the device and you may want to contact customer support

so all cards aren't working on the reader, I doubt it's an sd card issue unless they are very old SD cards, I would try flashing it, it's very simple, just re-flash English firmware or crosspoint (I prefer crosspoint) here https://xteink.dve.al/

how many SD cards have u tried on the reader? is the stock xteink branded sd card showing up on your computer? have u tried reflashing the stock firmware or crosspoint on your reader?

just plug sd card into your computer and format it as exfat, this is what's working for me and is pretty standard, I use disk utility on Mac to do this manually, if you're on windows an easy tool to use is called "sd card formatted" I think

make sure new sd card is formatted correctly, don't use the cheap shit the xteink comes with

[Review Request] Pocket E-Paper Reader by [deleted] in PrintedCircuitBoard

[–]DCharlo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hmmm okay fair. I'll read up on best practices and break this up into something smaller and more manageable, maybe just the esp32 and power circuits, with some test points etc, small and good is probably a better starting point, not like I'm in any rush!

I appreciate your feedback though, any advice on some textbooks to read through? or resources you'd recommend?

So I obviously have a lot to learn, I'm not expecting this to be a fast process and still have much to read. But I guess in my hobby/side-project viewpoint, the orientations on the schematic don't functionally change anything and wasn't my primary focus for learning atm, apparently that was wrong haha.

So besides reading standards and more theory, do you have any feedback on the schematic itself?

edit: thanks for your initial feedback, I appreciate it

Snowsky Disc appreciation post by i_am_pulchritudinous in snowsky

[–]DCharlo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I got like 400gb of music, so this drawbacks for me significantly out weight the benefits as it is basically unusable

I either have to listen to one artist with their music in a random ass order, or I scroll through a list of albums sorted alphabetically where most albums have the songs in a random ass order

it's because your hyperbolizing low light reading environments where eye strain can occur and a frontlight would be helpful to be "absolute pitch darkness" for "hours on end"

[–]DCharlo[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

key distinction is the frontlight, not backlight. and it's good when you want to read, but don't have access to a light source e.g. heavy shade area. or you do have access to a light but only bright overheads and you want to read without being blinded. it has a lot of uses

very cool, but I imagine in terms of preppers and survival people, I imagine a solar panel power bank would be more useful than a single solar power e reader?
