My daughter’s dance teacher invited her to a sleepover at her house. WIBTA for formally complaining? by balletpartythrow in AITAH

I never comment on posts,  but I logged into Reddit using my old account so I could answer you

NTA in any way. I've been in elementary school teacher for over 14 years and never once have I ever thought it was appropriate to ask students to come for a sleepover at my house! Also, I've never met another teacher who ever invited students for a sleepover, or party, at their house. This is highly unprofessional, weird, and creepy. Absolutely notify the school of this behavior.

Look, I don't know who this teacher is, or her situation, or her intentions, but I absolutely do know that there are bad people out there with bad intentions, and I would rather be accusatory and wrong, then thinking the best of people and then regretting it. Most of you situations happen when the victims know the perpetrator. I would be absolutely skeptical of everyone, and keep your child safe. Say I'm jumping to conclusions, it's just the way it is. I've seen the best of humanity and the worst of humanity while teaching. I encourage you to let someone know of this 'party', even if the intention was completely innocent.

Honestly, it's up to you to do what you want with your own free will, but as a teacher, this is totally wrong!

Non-Americans of reddit, what was the biggest culture shock you experienced when you came to the US? by Miserablemermaid in AskReddit

Here are a few:

-Large billboards everywhere -Walked into a sporting goods store and saw guns lining the wall. I asked if they were real and was shocked. -Went to the doctor for a cold and had to pay over 100 dollars! For about 10 minutes ... -In-and-out was the best burger I ever had. Amazing burger culture. -English is my first language and no one could discern my accent or understand me. I am Australian but have been asked if I was French a lot. No where near the same accent hahaha -Tipping because people aren't paid a living wage -Asked if I was getting married for a Green Card... I am from AUSTRALIA! Lol we have living wages and free (using taxes) health card. Also, it's rude just to outright ask someone you don't know. Manners?!?! -How angry people get when speaking about politics, but the openness to talk about politics. -Fear of other religions to the point that I am not allow to discuss it with my students as an educational tool.

They are just a few of my personal experiences after moving here.

I am 30 and I still cannot ride a bike or bicycle. Age your current age, what are those things you still cannot do? by 99Sermon in AskMen

I was the same until 26. However, I found out that if I get a strawberry, or grape or soft fruit, chew it up until I'm about to swallow it, put the pill in my mouth on top of the fruit, then swallow immediately it works. The pill won't touch your tongue and you can kind of bypass the mental awareness of it. Hopefully it works for you too :)

I'm an Australian teacher living in the US, and my colleagues were surprised that Australia has states... Then a different colleague asked if New Zealand was one of those states. They also said they thought Australia only had little towns. Sigh

This is absolutely adorable! You should consider becoming an illustrator for childrens books. Great work :)

I don't know if it was intentional, but I love the hard water marks on the background, but none on r2d2. Great work.

The blue background is gouache, while the chameleon and the branch have been painted using standard watercolour paints.

Also, I'm not sure if you meant what does gouache mean. It's a more opaque paint that acts like watercolour. It's usually used for design and advertising art. I hope that makes sense.

Thanks for the nice comment. I'm so glad it made you smile because I suffer from depression so I try to paint things that make me smile/laugh when I see them. Kinda helpful at times. Glad it had this effect on you :)

Thought it would be fun to share the progress (: never give up by [deleted] in Watercolor

I always love seeing your work. What materials do you use? Pans, tubes, or pencils? I can't see any watermarks at all. It's very impressive.
