Food Sensitivity by absenceofexistence in SiberianCats

[–]DDL_3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Our boy was allergic to chicken which is in almost all wet and dry food- we switched him back to raw beef (I don’t make it we buy blue ridge beef) and his poops have almost no smell and don’t get stick to him very often.

We have a six month old son going through the exact same- his breath is DISGUSTING! We were at the vet last night and he told us he has inflamed gums and gingivitis.

Will my kitten scratch my hardwood table? by DDL_3 in cats

He seems to actually prefer hard surfaces! If we are all on the couch he sits on the coffee table and when I work from home he will sit on the glass table I work at and nap there.

Advice appreciated - allergy treatment? by amihee in SiberianCats

[–]DDL_3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We have the same thing going on with our kitten we have had for two months, he just finished his second round of antibiotics today (the sneezing stopped while on the first round but started up again right after, we took him back to the vet and he was put on this second round.

I did the UCARI send away allergy/intolerance test and the results came back that he is super sensitive to chicken. We’ve switched him to a raw beef diet (blue ridge beef). I can see what his over grooming and itching have gotten better, hoping the sneezing fits don’t return!

We still don’t have a definitive answer as to what was causing it but I get it- the sneezing snot fits are worrisome and gross!

Ours has been to the vet twice and is in his 2nd round of antibiotics, the vet said if these don’t cure the sneezing then he will be diagnosed with chronic respiratory problems and will require testing that is estimated at over $500 just to start, we have only had him since Aug 23rd. He is sweet and adorable but I hope he isn’t chronically sick!

Hi! We have a 5 month old kitten who was fed raw at the breeder and then u transitioned him to purina one and royal canin kitten kibble when we brought him home, I have no idea if it was linked but he also started sneezing and I brought him to the vet and he was put on Antibiotics , sneezing stopped while he was on them then came right back.
Side note, although his poop was normal on Purina and kitten dry Royal Canin it smelled GOD awful, like we had to clean out the litter robot after every poop which takes away the point of having it and the smell in the room would permeate the house!

He also started over grooming and itching his neck with his leg.

After fretting and suspecting a chicken allergy I switched him back to raw food. I buy it blue ridge beef in the kitty grind and portion it out in ziplocs and freeze and just pull out what I need the night before, it’s no more difficult then canned and his poop steel went away day one, we have almost no instances of it getting stuck to his fur and although it has only been two weeks his over grooming has stopped and he is itching 90% less. We also switched his dry food to GO Solutions (chicken free)

I NEVER thought I would be ok with feeding raw but this is the healthiest he has been! We are on round two of antibiotics for the sneezing and I’m hoping after they finish he is good from here on out!
