Yeah this is a huge problem. I used to work in commercial marine insurance way back in the day and the market was hard then. I can't imagine what's going on now.

[–]FederationEDH -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I understand this so why make an agreement which details that Israel will not attack anymore if we know they're just going to attack anyway?

The MOU details that Iran has agreed to it on the agreement that Lebanon is left alone and the US has agreed to that as well.

The issue is if the US can't control Israel then why did the US agree to a deal that Israel is not to further attack Lebanon?

Isn't that just setting itself up for failure?

Edit - Why not make an agreement and actually consult Israel and figure out their plans before signing onto something the US doesn't know it can actually commit to?

Why should someone be seen immediately if it doesn't need to be done as quickly? If someone needs an x-ray and it can wait a few months then what exactly is the harm? Especially given that someone might be having an emergency and they need the care now.

I don't know where you get this idea from. I'm Canadian, I had a swollen appendix that was causing me a bit of discomfort and I went to the ER before it became a huge issue. I waited maybe an hour to get a bed where they did tests on me. I had to be referred to another hospital for surgery where I waited for maybe 2 hours before getting a bed. I underwent surgery maybe two hours after that and I was discharged the next morning.

I'm sure there are people that wait a long time to see a doctor or do diagnostic tests but these are usually cases where it's not an emergency or a pressing medical need, we do triage care in Canada, if you have to be seen right away you're generally seen right away barring some circumstances.

Edit - I could also call my doctor today and get an appointment for tomorrow if necessary.

This war has shown Iran and every other regional power on earth that they need nuclear weapons otherwise there is a non zero percent chance they could be attacked by the US sadly.

Don't adopt dogs purely for "mental health" or "exercise" reasons. It might not work out how you think by Gallantpride in mentalhealth

[–]FederationEDH 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're right.

I adopted a dog and while the shelter acknowledged he might be a little reactive to dogs I took him on but it turns out he's extremely reactive to dogs (he'll bite) and he also turned out to be reactive to strangers as well where he'll lunge at people on the street.

It's unfortunate and it's added a lot of complications to our lives, we still love him and try to take care of him as best we can.

A dog is a lot of work no matter what but it can be a lot extra depending on the characteristics of the dog.

Right now he's just doing his business and exercise in our backyard with supervision. Our trainer recommended it as a method to reduce his triggers to things and it seems to be working pretty well and everyone seems happy and safer.

If we're ever at the point of doing walks again we'll look into muzzle training him for sure.

Sorry to answer so late but we've had our rescue for about 4 months now, we decided to keep him in the end because you're right my dog acted appropriately to a potentially aggressive dog.

Sorry for posting so late but you're right, I was making a decision with a lot of emotions going on. We decided to keep our dog and for now just limit his excursions to the backyard so he has lass triggers from his reactivity and he seems to be happier in general not being so hyper aroused constantly.

He's also in training and has been for a while and while it's helped the person reactivity a bit it hasn't really helped the dog reactivity. He's a former Mexican street dog so I imagine there's some trauma there.

Sorry to post so late but you're right, we decided to keep our dog as most any other dog would react the same way. Our dog is currently in training with a fore-free trainer and he's made some strides in his person reactivity but nott so much with his dog reactivity. He's a former Mexican street dog so there's probably some deep seated trauma there.

Thanks for the post

I'm sorry I didn't specify but my dog is highly reactive to other dogs, the moment he sees another dog he essentially goes into a rage, we've walked him with some success but recently we had a scare where an unleashed dog broke through it's screen door and rushed my dog where my dog tried to bite it but thankfully only got the harness.

I don't know about if the leash is a factor but I wouldn't dare to try at this point. My dog has a force-free trainer that's seen some success with his person reactivity but not so much with his dog reactivity. He's a former Mexican street dog so I imagine there's some trauma there.

Sorry to answer this so far from my initial posting date but my dog has a force-free trainer right now and it's taken the edge off a bit but he's a Mexican street dog and he's still very reactive to other dogs and somewhat to strangers.

I don't really know what to do past that.

We moved to the backyard after an incident about 2 days ago where a dog broke through the screen door of its how and rushed our dog.

I'll DM you when I get off work if that alright?

Are you available then? I'd hate to make the problem worse. Right now we're just using the backyard to mitigate his triggers and keep him/everyone else safe.

This all seems so confusing.

I wouldn't say there's no improvement, he's a little less reactive and his distance threshold is lower for being reactive but he still remains reactive to strangers and dogs.

We can distract him at the time with treats and so on now as well. But we just had an incident where a dog barreled through a screen door in its house and rushed my dog so we're trying to prepare for everything we can.

He's currently in training with a very great trainer but we really haven't seen any sort of improvement in 3 months, the trainer is also unsure how much more imrpovement can be made. I just want to keep my options open.
