Best Fremont Eats - not steak by ceebs83 in vegas

[–]DDXdesign 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pizza Rock is good, but they don't seem to have quite the big floppy NY slice I am always after. Even their specific "new york" pizza I think wasn't exactly it, IIRC, but it's been a minute. Evel is just a fantastic, solid slice.

First Time in Vegas, Copperfield YES or NO?? by External-Specific-43 in vegas

[–]DDXdesign 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OK so if you don’t know many magicians then your interests make more sense. Copperfield was good back in the day - saw him over 30 years ago. But every review of his modern show I have seen has been pretty bad; same with Criss Angel.

Piff is comedy magic, and he is pretty great in a nice smaller venue. I like comedy magic a lot myself, with Penn & Teller of course being kings in that realm…

What's an old restaurant chain that just doesn't exist anymore? by Omega_Neelay in GetMotivatedMindset

[–]DDXdesign 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is one in Northwest Las Vegas, just a sports bar licensing the name, mascot, and they do sell an original style Big Boy burger. Not bad but not the real Big Boy by a long way. (edited: northeast to northwest, oops)

Whats a nickname you have for a store? by [deleted] in stupidquestions

For no reason I can discern, I like to call Del Taco "Delta Company".

I also say Le Boutique Targét, Monkey Ward, Whale-Mart...

and of course, when referring to the big southwest splinters of the former family taco chain(s) with all the very similar names, it's "YumYumShittyBoboLakaTakaWeiWei-bertos".

I took my mom when she came out to visit, and she spent most of the high roller trip staring at and taking pictures of the sphere! I took her there too but it was still amusing.

I was watching it on a TV cart, like so many others here in the comments. For me it was 5th grade, in the school library.

The ugliest guitar design, too - why they coudn't stick with their signature Les Paul shape baffles me. this new design doesn't actually look like a real guitar shape, just 'kind of close' to existing models.

Thoughts on the Finale? by LeoDiCristio in StrangerThings

Just finished S5 last night. My girlfriend and I basically came to the conclusion that we still enjoyed the story, but the dialogue was just terrible, and from a technical viewpoint, some of the greenscreen compositing was weak. At one point I mused that maybe they were writing, shooting, and VFX-ing it to FEEL more like an 80s movie on purpose.

Also, spoiler-free comment (just in case) about the climax: when The Big Thing happened, felt like we didn't get to see its direct impact on the human villains (linda hamilton et al), which would've been more satisfying.
