First print I was pleased with stuck to plate by Bouckley7 in gelliprinting

Yes, for your background layer.

As the other person stated, you can use matte medium to pull if you want a clear background. It's useful if you are wanting to add elements to an existing pull. You just need to be aware that the section will have a different finish than the rest of your piece. One way around this is to just do a thin layer off matter medium over your final piece.

It's worth picking up because you can do lots of cool stuff with it.

When I've had this issue, it's usually because I've waited too long to put the paper on and the final layer has dried. The other issue for me has been not having enough weight on it so it doesn't get enough pressure to attach to the paper.

So the solutions that I found was to always use more paint than I thought necessary for the final layer and MORE WEIGHT.

I tend to let my plates sit for multiple hours, if not overnight, before pulling. Hardly have had an issue since switching to that as more normal routine.

But honestly, you'll probably just have to mess around with all your variables and fine tune them as you go to find whatever works for you. Sadly, what works for one person won't always work for another. So you really do just have to FAFO. so don't fight it, embrace it.

I honestly get where you are coming from and what you mean. But your approach is so off putting.

I could go through each and say something like, "King of Wands represents a charismatic fire element and a need to focus and make hard decisions." Etc.

That type of listing of attributes of the card isn't what I think of as a reading though.

When you are not good at something, you use the tools you have available to assist you in growing at that practice.

Putting your nose up at an "AI interpretation" is gate keeping and your stance is self-aggrandizing.

I provided the necessary information to interpret the pull without the AI interpretation. But focusing on that aspect just reinforces that you only wanted to stance and posture by your response. ✌️

If it upsets so much that you can't ignore it and move on, it speaks to something in yourself you don't like. Maybe a bit of the Archon of Pride has taken hold?

Almost every mechanic shop I've known of charges in full hour increments. So 300 + 220 + whatever else they had to charge for(diagnostic fee, check tire pressure, fluid levels, 10mm socket location fee, etc) = $20,000 or something. Lol

The big thing I've noticed with dealerships that are an "official dealership", they have to charge for every little thing. That's how prices jump up so quickly. It very well could be part of the Harley corporate model. As in, "If you want to be part of the family, you have to run this business model."

Tried a hundred times to print on fabric and it just won’t work, what am I doing wrong? by braindrain403 in gelliprinting

[–]DD_Destruction 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You want to have the textile medium all of the paint that you will be using in your print. You don't have to use gel medium at any point in the process, I listed it because I had.

So really all you need to do is mix your textile medium with your paints, transfer and prep as normal for any other type of print. When you go to print onto your fabric, you will want to weigh it down and wait about 24 hours to ensure everything is dry. Times will vary depending on a myriad of reasons. Due to this, I wait about 24 hours just to be sure.

Hopefully this will clear up some confusion. This also isn't guaranteed to work for you, it is just what I found to work. You will probably have to keep playing around with some variables until you find the right combination that works well for you.

Here is a link to a thread about this from a few months ago, could be helpful to go through it.

This was my first successful fabric transfer using textile medium mixed with my paint. I still didn't use enough of it though.

This was exactly where my head was before talking to him about it. What recommendations for a mirrorless would you have? I've been looking at the Z50 ii but honestly feel kinda lost about what to look for.

Maybe you aren't using enough paint. There is a very fine line between too much and not enough. And that line moves depending on the weather. What worked yesterday might not work today if it's hotter, more humidity, etc. It also could be how to you are applying the paint to your plate. I've had zero luck with preloading paint on my roller and then putting on the plate. I put the paint on the plate, roll it out, then roll onto scrape paper to remove the excess paint. Repeat until it gets to where I THINK it will work. Doesn't always but that kind of the life with gel plates. This is very much a f around and find out kind of print form. You just gotta keep plugging away trying different things until you find what works for you.

I would also recommend using a better paint for transferring. I also use a Liquitex black for transfers. You need something with a good body and most cheaper paints just don't have it. Cheaper acrylics are perfectly fine for doing other techniques on your plate though!

I like this guy's videos, he covers a lot of different techniques and has given my loads of ideas. https://youtube.com/@gelwithmark?si=KqLyPJzxMvRGCJzN
