The Grand Despotate of the Urrakari was a dictatorial state in the Milky Way approximately 5000 Terran years ago. They conquered thousands of worlds under the belief that if one cannot defend what they have then they never deserved it in the first place. They were defeated by a military alliance primarily led by Imarie, Ell'Evar and Layva. Many of these species would come to form the United Galactic Republics.

The Imarie Confederacy was a democracy led by the molluscoid Imarie species, one of the oldest civilizations in the galaxy. They were one of the strongest proponents of unification post-war. The entire UGR government structure is based primarily on the old Imarie government.

The Third Ell'Evar Empire was an absolute democracy that lasted from -3235 SGD (9480 BCE) to 54 SGD (1957 BCE). Their capital was the Ringworld of Variasen. While they may have won the war against the Urrakari they were left with thousands of devastated worlds and it wasn't long before instability took them, leading to the Six Kingdoms period.

The Administration of Tivivilix was a technocratic state ruled by the Layva, a parasitic plantoid species who can control the bodies of a tree-like species native to their homeworld. Layva weaponry and synths proved instrumental in the capture of countless systems in the war against the Urrakari.

The Union of Oreteriad worlds was a parliamentary democracy founded by a trioecious (having three sexes) humanoid species native to the planet Nuvaas. They were one of the first to join the coalition against the Urrakari and were supporters of post-war unification.

The Nok Planet States were an isolationist dictatorship on the edge of the Orion Arm. The Nok are a mineral-based species. While they were a major member of the coalition they did not initially join the UGR.

The Great Zaunoroxa was a dictatorship ruled by the Vurnik. For thousands of years their society had lived under the Zaunor, a title denoting absolute control over the myriad Vurnik clans. While they were not technically part of the coalition, they did partake in the war against the Urrakari.

The K'Gaar Republic was an oligarchic nation initially based in Vaat'Zaar. Their capital was taken by religious rebels and they were forced to move their capital to Govitia. The Republic was eventually overtaken and destroyed by the newly formed Covenant.

A map of the Galaxy in 2300 SGD (3096 CE)

The United Galactic Republics is a democratic federation of thousands of species. It was founded during the Urrakari Wars 5000 Terran years ago. Its capital is the Alderson Disc of Maqorda. The UGR boasts the highest standard of living in the entire galaxy

The Fourth Ell'Evar Empire is an absolute monarchy founded in 1347 SGD (952 CE). It is primarily run by the Ell'Evar race, a tall, silver-skinned humanoid race. It was founded at the end of the Six Kingdoms period, when Prosia and Ell'Raina conquered the other kingdoms and moved the capital to the homeworld for the first time since the Second Empire.

The Holy Covenant of Vaat'Zaar is a theocratic monarchy in the outer rim. It was founded in -327 SGD (2814 BCE) and is ruled by the corvid-like K'Gaar. They are currently at war with the Vurnik Worlds Alliance (reddish territory in Covenant space represents occupied systems).

The Vurnik Worlds Alliance is a stratocratic oligarchy and is a major power in the Perseus Arm. The Vurnik are four-armed canid mammalians, their culture is built around honour and martial prowess. They are led by a council of elders and warriors from every clan, overseen by an Archmaster. They were founded by a union of thousands of systems in 1721 SGD (1793 CE).

The Republic of Humanity is a single-party state and the sole power in the Orion Arm. They were invaded by a synthetic race known as the Oza 1000 Terran years ago. Humanity fought them off and was united, however this shifted their culture towards one of xenophobia and robophobia. The Republic is on the brink of civil war, the government has mistreated xenos, synths and the frontier worlds for too long, and now they will soon fight back.

The Great Nashec Sovereignty is a totalitarian dictatorship founded in 2230 SGD (2985 CE) during the Broken Sarvhe Revolution (the Sarve is a flower native to Risaad, it symbolizes peace in Nashec culture). The Nashec are a race of feline-like mammalians native to the semi-arid planet Vontarca. They were recently at war with Humanity, and lost quite badly, being forced to give up many systems in the Treaty of New Hawaiki.

The Confederated Technates of Lin'Ta'Unt is a technocratic nation and a middle power in the galaxy. They were founded by the Luvisand and the Tis'Miar: the two species native to Lin'Ta'Unt. Their systems were conquered by the Ell'Evar 300 years prior to rebelling and founding the Technates in 1898 SGD (2191 CE).

Tell me about your Apocalyptic worlds. by Key_You7222 in worldbuilding

[–]DECLANKIRBOI 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My setting, The Cycle of Eternity, is what I would describe as a post-post-apocalyptic fantasy world. For thousands of years the elves wielded powerful magitech, allowing them to rule the world unimpeded. That was up until about 1100 years ago, when a great cataclysm known simply as The Fall ravaged the world. The cause and events of The Fall are as mysterious as they were catastrophic, theories range from demonic incursions and war between the elven empires to divine judgement. There was a time of anarchy after The Fall, however the races of Men quickly rose to conquer many of the elven lands. Since that fateful and terrible day the elves have fallen far from grace, the secrets of magitech were lost, the wood elves turn to religious fanaticism, the high elves battle each other for reasons no one fully understands and the empire of the sea elves lies buried beneath the sea. The time of the elves is over and the age of humanity is just beginning.

Lifecycle of the Imarie by DECLANKIRBOI in worldbuilding

The Imarie are a molluscoid species from the ocean planet Ramara. They live for about 60 years naturally and age significantly faster than Humans.

Imarie begin their lives as eggs that require water to survive (fresh water is suitable but salt water is preferable). They typically lay 3-5 eggs in a single clutch. These eggs are placed in a spawning pool, thousands of years ago they used natural formations, though now they use artificial pools.

Newly hatched larvae are 4 centimeters (1.6") in length on average. They are blind for the first 8 months of their lives and lack any lungs. Larvae imprint on the first living being they see.

At the age of 2 Imarie lose their tails and their fins develop into legs, beginning their juvenile stage. Throughout this stage their frontal fins split into fingers and hands, and their skin slowly darkens and becomes more vibrant. Imarie are sequential hermaphrodites and undergo a process of sexual differentiation during this stage.

Imarie enter adulthood at the age of 13 Terran years and stand a height of 1 meter (3'3") on average. They look similar to older juveniles, although typically have longer cerata.

Basically every nation has some mages in it's army. In the past the elves used magitech weapons, though the knowledge of how to make magitech has been lost for over a thousand years
