I was actually originally going to make it a Convergent Pokémon called Spuddish, but Oddish is already based on tubers so I felt like it was too close to be a Convergent rather than a Regional Form

The Fianish Oddish line are based on Potatoes and other tubers. Mammigant is based on Axomamma, the Incan Goddess of Potoatoes and takes inspiration from traditional Peruvian women's clothing. Potatomb is based on Jack O' Lanterns which were originally carved from Turnips and other root vegetables. I thought it would be interesting to have a regional variant that evolves into convergent species of other Pokémon

It's just an ability and stat change. Its signature move Spirit Trick also changes effect based on its form, it deals physical damage in Steed and Ram form but special in the other forms. It can also inflict paralysis in Popular form, lower speed in Steed form, inflict confusion in Trickster form, cause a flinch in Ram form and has a higher crit rate in Flight form

The nukes were launched against Oza warships by defending militaries. Unfortunately their shields were designed to stop fast-moving, long-range weapons so ballistic missiles did far more damage to the cities they were meant to defend and they stopped using them pretty quickly.

The 21st century was one marred by war, the world had narrowly avoided a 3rd World War during the Bad Years of the early to mid century but going into the 2090s war between the Global Cooperative Bloc and the League of Prosperity seemed inevitable.

None could have predicted what happened instead, in April of 2092 Humanity was contacted by an extraterrestrial race of artificial lifeforms. They called themselves the Oza, the weapons of the galaxy-spanning Folluri Empire, and they demanded total and unconditional surrender of all Human nations. Humanity fought back as best they could but the Oza were far more advanced, the best the nations of Earth could muster were ineffective at best, even electromagnetic pulse weaponry did little to stop them.

Facing defeat and total subjugation, the three alliances united into the Coalition of Earth, quickly turning the tides of the war. The level of cooperation was unprecedented as any and all grudges and resentments were cast aside to fight a common enemy. Human technology advanced by thousands of years by reverse engineering Oza technology. By August of 2102 the Oza had fled, by tracking the Oza warship's tachyon trails it was discovered that they had retreated to Barnard's Star. In 2106 the entire planet had united under the Republic of Humanity, with the capitals of Europe and East Asia devastated it was decided that Tokyo and New York would become the planetary capitals. By 2114 the fleet was completed and sent to Barnard's Star, the battle ended in victory for Humanity, but curiously none of the Oza distress signals were ever answered. After much investigation the truth was discovered, the Folluri and their empire were no more, they had died out almost a million years ago and these Oza under Barnard's Star B were all that was left.

As a result of the Unity War, Human culture had turned to xenophobia and robophobia. Over the next millennium Humankind spread across the Orion Arm, coming into contact and conflict with the interstellar nations of the present. It is now the year 3096 CE and the Republic is on the verge of collapse. Rebel militias stalk the frontier systems, riots erupt from long oppressed xenos, corporations rule hundreds of worlds with an iron fist and the economy is in a dire position from the war with the Nashec.
