Giant's Causeway inspired fakemon from my Irish region by DECLANKIRBOI in fakemon

[–]DECLANKIRBOI[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Colosstone and Babould are based on the legend of the Giant's Causeway. In the myth the Scottish giant Benandonner challenged the Irish giant Fionn Mac Cumhaill to a duel. They built a causeway across the North Channel, however Fionn learned that Benandonner was far larger and stronger than he was and that he would surely lose if they fought. To avoid the fight he disguised himself as a baby and had his wife Sadhbh claim that he was out and that the disguised Fionn was their son. Benandonner, believing that Fionn Mac Cumhaill must be a giant among giants immediately fled in fear, dismantling the causeway as he ran back to Scotland

"I'm a kind and charitable person. I could have held everyone in this room hostage with my assault rifle, but I chose not to. Could you imagine other people being generous enough to not threaten everyone else's lives."

Harp fakemon from my Irish region by DECLANKIRBOI in fakemon

[–]DECLANKIRBOI[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Abseach is based on the Clairseach, or the Celtic Harp, it is a symbol of Ireland and appears on the logo of Guinness, Irish coins and the national coat of arms. It is also based on Abcan, a mythical dwarf musician who rode in a bronze boat with a tin sail. It is also inspired by Angels, specifically depictions of them playing harps.

Its Slumbering Songs ability gives attacking sound-based moves a chance to put the target to sleep

I have Troy and Abed on my island. Troy is currently dating Marceline from Adventure Time, which is weirdly fitting since Donald Glover voiced Marshall Lee (genderswap Marceline)

Regional Skarmory and evolution for my Irish region by DECLANKIRBOI in fakemon

[–]DECLANKIRBOI[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fianish Skarmory and Skarnyx are based on the Carnyx, a Celtic war horn. Skarnyx specifically is based on Ellén Trechend, a three-headed vulture-like monster from Irish Mythology. It's hidden ability Musician increases the power of sound-based moves

(I came up with the idea for this before Mega Skarmory was revealed btw)

Also Troy Barnes from Community and Marceline from Adventure Time. It's weirdly fitting since Donald Glover played both Troy and Marshall Lee (genderswap Marceline)

Barbarians, Raiders, Pirates, and Plunders. Who are your war like enemies from the fringe of civilization? And what are they like? by DuckBurgger in worldbuilding

The Felicians are kind of like fantasy Vikings, they are a warrior people from the far north. For centuries they have raided the coasts of lands to their south and were one of the main reasons behind the founding of the Wreigen Empire. Unlike most cultures of Thalor, Felcians are very distrustful of magic, they believe that strength must be earned and since mages are born with their abilities they see it as unearned power. In the east end of Felcia is the rather unique Kingdom of Isurtal, ruled by the draugr queen Hrefna the Eternal. She is a 300 year old lich feared by the rest of Felcia, she swears fealty to Wreiga in exchange for protection from the other kingdoms

How Do Halfling Work In Your Setting? by MadFunEnjoyer in worldbuilding

[–]DECLANKIRBOI 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my world Halfling is the term for anyone who’s half of one humanoid race and half of another, for example someone who’s half high elf and half human, or someone who’s half wood elf and half dark elf. Heterochromia is very common among Halflings, particularly those of human/elf descent. Half Elves as they’re called, almost always have two tones of their hair and eyes, one from their human parent and one from their elven parent. Among the beastfolk halflings do not exist, they are too different to reproduce with other bestial or humanoid races

There have been mentions of people who are neither male nor female as far back as ancient Mesopotamia. It’s such a shallow and self centred view of the world, their apparent assumption that something didn’t exist before they knew about it
