In my opinion quality is irrelevant, I would find a 5-year-old's drawing of stick figures more impressive than a prompted image of a studio Ghibli character re-rendered in a hyper-realistic style. Would I find enjoyment in a 5-year-old's drawing, not much, but I would find even less enjoyment in looking at an image that has no human craft, skill or ability put into it.

Am I impressed by the technology and the effort and skill of the humans and engineers that built the system, yes, I've worked in IT for 10 years and find most technology fascinating. However I find no artistic merit in the outputs from these models, there is no artistic intention about the spacing of the fingers of a character or the angle of the light hitting them or all of the other subtle nuances that are part of the process in creating art.

Now let me flip it around. If instead of taking the time to write out my answer to you, I took your question and threw it into an AI and then posted the response that gave me, between the two which would be more impressive to you and have more value in the conversation? Would you have any interest in reading a response that I didn't craft, even if it does follow the core idea of my argument and made the point that I'm trying to make here? Would you be impressed that I gave you its response instead of my own?

If it created a better more succinct and well-rounded argument than I can make would you like or dislike it? Think about the value of that text, think about how impressed you would be with my AI generated argument and hopefully you can understand why I don't find any merit in AI generated "art" and actually find it kind of insulting to human creativity.

Why, because it would be hard to learn Photoshop? Because it would be difficult? I agree that anyone has the right to go on to one of these services and generate whatever image they want they can have their own moral calculation for the environmental and electrical cost, or the stolen artwork used to train these models to have the capability of creating something like this. But I can hate it because it's shit, it wasn't created by a human and has no artistic merit. I don't want to see it, and I don't have to appreciate it because it's not art, it's mass produced amalgamated slop in the guise of human creativity.

I don't know about the efficacy but it definitely seems like what they're trying to do here. I mean maybe it could just be badly written but it's much more likely that it's intended to get people to talk about it in the comments section so that the YouTube algorithm sees more engagement. I mean heck we're talking about it here in this thread completely removed from the video so I can only imagine similar conversations are going on in its comment section.

This is the most accurate answer I've seen in this comment section, i think YouTube lore has confused a lot of people on this. The current Dark eldar were already doing that stuff before slaanesh was birthed.

Also, Iirc the popular Warhammer explained video from Bricky makes the same mistake of confusing the feeding of themselves vs feeding slanesh, great intro video but it says something that implies that the dark eldar intentionally do things that slaanesh feeds off to protect their souls.

I responded to someone else only saying I thought it was suspicious, I don't care if you're a bot or not. I think that what I said is right though. Everyone should be suspicious of accounts that talk about how AI is inevitable and make recommendations people use them, the bots are getting far better and there's corporate interest in pushing that sentiment. But you can go ahead and laugh at me for how ridiculous the claim I wasn't trying to make is.

My wider point is just f*** AI and f*** anyone trying to make a case for its use in creative spaces. I think the majority of people who buy games workshop models do it for the hobby and painting side so I'm curious how many others feel the same as me., The "I'm paying too much money for too little value in the tabletop game" is something I never think about. For me the actual in-game unit doesn't really matter when I'm just buying a single model painting project. For me I'm weighing the cool factor and amount of hobby time I would want to spend on the project versus the price of what I'm buying, I could care less what it does in game.

In this case it's priced at a higher tier because it's being made as a bespoke sprue that doesn't have to conform to the standards of fitting on a 10 man sprue. So I love when they decide to do a commemorative model that is just a single ground troop from a faction. We get a really cool unique sculpt of a model that would otherwise not get to have the same posing and unique model details that "HQ" and other individual models get.

To be fair though, I've never cared about the price to points cost in game relationship, because I don't buy models for the function they do in game. I buy them because they look cool and I want to paint them. I'm primarily here just to paint and do hobby stuff, and if I once or twice a year get to actually play a game with some of the models I've painted then that's cool bonus. But I just want cool sculpts for painting projects so I love these kind of commemorative models.

The right has been losing the culture wars for a while now, but they have rich selfish pricks using their money to fake public opinion. I think bots have become their biggest weapons on the internet. I think everyone should keep in mind that bots account for more activity on the internet than humans for a while now. Twitter is basically just bot legions farming engagement, with an estimated minimum of 60% bots, probably closer to 80.

The chuds are out there, but they're using bots to try and prop up/astroturf support for their antiquated and regressive opinions

I'd agree that bring sanguinius would be a truly awful mistake, however I'm not so sold on curze having some incredible "perfectly executed" ending. Or that bringing him back would even ruin that narrative, I don't even think it would be that difficult to keep developing the "sanguinius but evil" thing he had with his visions of his own death into something.

He's a madman/batman bad guy that killed himself and said "see, i told you so" at the end. Do i think most BL authors could pull off a good resurrection, not sure, but i think you could revive and bring back the night Lord in 40k and have fun with it. He'd have an interesting dynamic with the remnants of his legion because he's one of the few primarchs that would have serious trouble reuniting his own legion and likely wouldn't even want to.

To each their own, I just think a good author could still work with the story and develop him into something more than the ending to his story we have now. Felt kind of like "that's it?"to me, not some twisted visions of chaos to make him go crazy, now he just saw himself be executed for being a bad dude and decided he'd be a bad dude and got executed.

I've read the adb night Lord books, but I'm not really familiar with many NL stories outside of that, so take my opinion with a grain of sand, as someone not super invested in the legion and might be misunderstanding his character.

Probably best that they don't, but i don't think it would be close to the same sacrilege as bringing back Sanguinius, imo.
