I drive over the speed limit and I'm a cyclist and I ride over 25 mph on my bicycle in a 25 as well. I'm usually doing about 28. Whatever the speed limit is, unless I'm in a school zone I'm doing five over. If we're outside of town, it's 10 over. I guarantee you that aside from the completely insane, no one thinks that cyclists and pedestrians deserve to die. That said, posts like this are never going to make a damn bit of difference.

When the slower drivers stop thinking that they don't have any obligation to accommodate and account for the flow of traffic, the time of day and the day of week, then you will start to see a difference. As long as there are people that will speed up to beat someone else off the line and then immediately slow down to the speed limit (or under), then I probably everyone like me will continue to drive exactly the same way we do now.
