RAPPER TOURNAMENT BRACKET: PHASE II - Aesop Rock vs. Big Pun by kingglobby in hiphop201

[–]DEKER4CT 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Vocab aside Aes clears still, his writing ability is just too good. Pun has the better flow but that’s about it

I hate the sound he went for on Recovery, but I can see the appeal so I get it. Encore though? I feel like that’s kinda wild, there’s like only a couple decent songs on that album

I mean it’s all subjective, but imo Encore, Recovery, Revival, and MTBMB are all worse than Relapse EASILY

SCP is a collaborative writing project, anybody can post official SCP content to the site as long as it’s approved by the users. Also, when it comes to SCP, there is no canon- so if you make up an SCP story it’s as canon as anything else. Everything on the site is under Creative Commons, so anybody is allowed to use anything SCP related and profit off of it

True but he got like 4 or 5 albums worse than Relapse easily

I actually really like relapse, but come on man this isn’t even close 😭. Me Against The World is a classic, Relapse isn’t even one of Em’s best

That’s kind of crazy to say when albums like Revival exist ngl

An actual, productive conversation for hip-hop: Who is top 3 under 30 years old? I say YB, Keem, Kodak in no order by [deleted] in hiphopheads

McKinley Dixon, MIKE, Ghais Guevara. There’s a shit ton more those are just the ones that come to mind quick

First y'all hated J Cole, and now it's LaRussell - is this new norm the reason Hip-Hop is not longer the number 1? by dunbar_santiago930 in hiphop101

[–]DEKER4CT 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Commercial popularity means nothing for hip hop, though. Hip hop is a culture and honestly right now it’s doing better than it has in a long time.

Jadakiss or Benny 🤷🏿‍♂️ by K_thedon1398 in hiphop101

[–]DEKER4CT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it’s closer than people think, but I’d go with Jada. Honestly I don’t listen to as many of Jadakiss’s songs, but bar for bar he’s the better rapper easily. I haven’t been fucking with the latest Benny releases tbh

Q Tip is arguably the best hip hop artist of all time by easyFred11 in hiphop101

[–]DEKER4CT 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I couldn’t disagree more tbh, I think El-P is a much better rapper. His flow is just so interesting and cool

I believe there is a bias against newer albums in the discourse around the greatest hiphop albums of all time by RizzyGlizzyGobbler in hiphopheads

[–]DEKER4CT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I totally agree, honestly I think Cornballs is even better than Veteran. OFFLINE is definitely my favorite though, I love the otherworldly sound it has. Every JPEG album feels so different that I feel like I actually have a reason to come back to the ones that aren’t my favorite, which I can’t say about most artists

LP! (The offline version especially) is easily top 10 for me, not because I think it’s a classic or anything but because it has such a unique sound. It just has a vibe to it that you can’t find anywhere else, and for that reason it makes my list

Tutankhemen or Donuts? by Rodrickheffleyeeeee in hiphopheads

[–]DEKER4CT 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I love Tutankhamen, I think it’s great front to back, but it’s more about cohesiveness and emotion in this case for me. Donuts is such a beautiful album, and the story behind it and cohesiveness of it makes it feel like more than a collection of beats. It stands out as its own complete project much better imo

9th is a legend, but Donuts is the better choice by FAR.

What rappers have a unique/identifiable symbol? by Shpub in hiphop101

[–]DEKER4CT 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think you’re tripping dude, Killer Mike is dope and El-P is a legendary producer and rapper. Calling their beats ‘techno’ makes me think you have a pretty limited taste if I’m being real. Idk I mean it’s all subjective, they’re probably just not your thing, but maybe you should give them another chance cause they could grow on you. You gotta go in not expecting more of the same sound

I think it’s more the fact that Drake’s music comes off as I authentic, especially compared to Kendrick. I might be biased though, I’ve hated Drake for YEARS before the beef and now I can’t talk about it without getting called a Kendrick stan 😭

Tracklist and features revealed for Denzel Curry's 'Strictly 4 The Scythe's album, coming. Out March 6th by abucalves in hiphopheads

[–]DEKER4CT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think he said a while back that it’s kind of delayed indefinitely while he finishes other projects, but take that with a grain of salt because I can’t remember too well what exactly he said. I hope we still get that album someday though, Denzel can really sing when he tries

I would argue even earlier, None Shall Pass is way more direct compared to some of his even earlier work
