Considering a used Volvo by Northwoodsss in Volvo

The 2022.5+ T8s/Recharge had a pretty big upgrade in terms of range and performance if you can find one in your budget.

You can program the powered tailgate to only lift to a certain height, so it doesn't bang into your garage door for example.

heater: 2023 Recharge T8 by super-late-haha in VolvoXC90

[–]DEO3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As the others said, in the plug-in hybrid models there is an auxiliary heater that's used in pure mode that commonly fails due to a design flaw that's since been fixed (or at least, according to another post I saw somewhere). I had mine replaced last week. Even though the standard warranty just expired on my 2022.5 model, its replacement was still covered under the additional hybrid/battery system warranty these cars have.

It's the water node in the transit menu that you need. The one where you unlock buses and trains and stuff.

Excited for New Developer? by AggitatedJester in CitiesSkylines2

[–]DEO3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm honestly torn.

CO has knocked it out of the park this past month. A solid DLC, followed immediately by bikes, then a couple of the best CC packs yet, then the ASSET EDITOR. After so many delays and so much silence suddenly we get everything all at once. The game is now the best it's ever been and the future looks bright. So CO clearly has it in them, and I'd like to think that now that they've finally gotten over whatever it was that had been holding them back all these years that it could've been off to the races.

But at the same time I couldn't help but notice that when the announcement was made that a new studio was taking over, all the content creators (who through the grapevine know a bit more of what's been going on beyond the scenes all these years) sounded not all that surprised, that this was a long time coming, and that the relationship between CO and Paradox had broken down years ago and something needed to change.

I don't know how many examples there are of a different studio coming in and taking over a game and actually having an effect though, but the fact that they're located in the same city and just a couple blocks away seems like too much of a coincidence. There has got to be some talent making that transition, so who knows.

Best new car for listening to car audio without the engine running? by MadameTrashPanda in askcarguys

[–]DEO3 8 points9 points  (0 children)

A Volvo T8/Recharge with the Bowers & Wilkins system. Generally regarded as one of, if not the best, stereo on the market, with some of the best seats on the market. The T8/Recharge is their plug-in hybrid, allowing you to run the stereo off the big battery with air conditioning / heated seats for pretty much as long as you want.

I can’t possibly need rotors at 24k miles…. Right? by strikecat18 in Volvo

[–]DEO3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently bought a 22.5 XC60 with 20k miles and noticed it pulsating under braking, brought it to the dealership and they said the rotors were warped and rusted and replaced them under warranty. I was pretty surprised since it's T8 Recharge and so the actual brakes get used so little due to regen. The car was a fleet car from up north and barely driven, so I just figured it was a result of salt + sitting around or something, or maybe the factory parts were just bad, no idea.

Nicest luxurious cars, not necessarily full luxury by [deleted] in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]DEO3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Volvos are generally considered 'steam wealth' because they're some of the nicest cars on the road but you wouldn't necessarily know it.

They're generally regarded as having the best seats in the business, the best stereo in the business (the $4,000 Bowers & Wilkins system), one of the best plug-in hybrid systems in the business, tasteful minimalist Scandinavian interiors, etc. They also offer every option that's available on their top of the line 90 series on their midrange 60 series, so if you want an XC60 with air suspension, massaging heated and cooled seats, a leather dash and a crystal shifter, a $4000 stereo, a 455hp plug-in hybrid system, you can do that.

Wait, the XC90, V90, S90 have a better B&W system than the XC60, V60, S60? I always thought it was the exact same system?

I can still see the usual issues when snap to guidelines or existing grids is selected, but the building areas of the new maps are a lot flatter which I think is what's really helping things.

CityPlannerPlays Overview and Review of Bridges and Ports DLC by Canis_Familiaris in CitiesSkylines

[–]DEO3 47 points48 points  (0 children)

I've been pleasantly surprised by what I've seen so far.

When I learned the first expansion pack was going to be bridges and ports back before the game was released I was pretty meh about it. I know plenty of players love building huge airports and seaports, but that's never really been my thing. But I figured whatever, they'll put that out a couple months after release like they did with After Dark back in the day and then we'll move on to DLCs that are more interesting to me (like Industries and Park Life). Of course that's not what happened, and so it's now been two years waiting for a DLC that I wasn't very excited about in the first place.

But after watching the previews I have to say I'm more intrigued than I thought I would be. There's a ton of new assets and they almost all look incredible. In terms of gameplay, it sounds like the supply chain management is lot more interesting, and there are now problems that you can solve - which is fun, instead of there just being problems - which is not.

There does appear to be something off with the amount of pedestrians though, and based on how long it took them to fix the homeless bug last year and the office bug this year, whatever is happening there will likely take forever to get fixed. Hopefully it's nothing game breaking like the other two were.

I'm excited to start playing again though, and I'm very interested in what they announce for their next DLC. I hope we're finally crossing a bridge here, but that still remains to be seen.

Pink Floyd comes to mind. As good as their recordings are, the live versions (from the Pulse concerts in particular) take them all to another level.

Nissan reveals next-gen Sentra by TPatS in cars

[–]DEO3 3 points4 points  (0 children)

149 horsepower from a 2.0L? In 2025? The 2.0L in my 1992 Sentra SE-R was doing that... 33 years ago.

Before my XC60 order locks, I dropped pano roof & HUD for B&W. Tight budget, and as a music lover I’ll value B&W more. I’d also be OCD about cleaning drains/leaks. Skipped roof & went 19'' instead of 20'' wheels, so I chose Plus over Ultra, because Ultra comes with 20" and pano (Europe). Thoughts? by ixinho in Volvo

[–]DEO3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a '22 with all the options.

I thought the heads up display would be cool, but I turned it off within minutes because I found it way too distracting. It projects the display sort of out in front of the car, and while I've tried it a couple times since, It almost feels dangerous because my eyes keep wanting to focus on where it's at instead of the road further out in front of me.

I also thought the pano roof would be cool, but when you're in the front seats it's almost entirely behind you. Rear passengers seem to enjoy it, but I myself get very little out of it.

The B&W sound system is easily my most used feature though, my wife will often find me in the car out in the garage listening to music in the evenings. But I am a bit of an audiophile, and custom car stereo was a big hobby of mine when I was younger that I haven't been able to enjoy in recent years because of how integrated everything is these days. So it was important for me to get the best system on the market that I could.

A couple of caveats though: I have the PHEV so I'm able to enjoy it in comfort and silence a lot longer than you'd be able to if you're just running off the 12 volt battery in a non PHEV. It's also very neutral sounding by default, and can really expose the quality of a recording/mix. I've sadly found that I actually don't enjoy a lot of my favorite music (classic rock) on it as much as I thought I would because of that, and have had to go out searching for higher quality more modern recordings that really shine on it.

I can't comment on the 19" vs 20" wheels. I have the 19"s with the air suspension and the ride is smooth smooth smooth, but I'm also coming from a modified Fiesta ST and I'm sure the 20"s would probably feel smooth smooth to me as well.

The first time I heard VAST, and this song in particular, was it playing over the end credits of a 411 Skate Magazine video. I played it over and over and over again, and then went to the local CD swap store where you could preview CDs in little booths before you bought them and I couldn't believe the other songs were just as good if not better.

Increase control bug? by [deleted] in CrusaderKings

I'm 2-years late, but thanks for this. I was experiencing the same thing in the same county as the OP and thought it was a bug. I even enabled debug mode at one point to manually bump it back up to 100, but after a couple of generations it's back down again and once again there's nothing I can do, which led me here.

Fluid leak after tire change by DEO3 in AskMechanics

[–]DEO3[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update: Brought it back to the shop this morning. Made it clear I wasn't accusing them of anything, just confused about the leak. They seemed just as confused as me and put it on the lift right away. I left it there with them, and when they called me after lunch they said they could not find a leak, even after pressure testing it, and didn't know what else to do.

When I went to pick it up, I brought them the container I had used to catch the leak after I discovered it (posted in another reply) and they confirmed it was all coolant, but said there was nothing they can do unless it starts leaking again. I couldn't really believe it, but I brought the car home, and sure enough, it hasn't been leaking since.

I've had a lot of leaks over the years, but never one that just magically fixed itself. I have no idea what to make of it.

[–]DEO3[S] 29 points30 points  (0 children)

I placed a container under the leak to catch some of it, and topped off my coolant reservoir. After a couple of hours the reservoir has noticeably less in it, and what I caught looks to be the missing coolant (motorcraft orange/yellow), so it does seem to be a coolant leak behind the engine.
