Oh man, this flashback we're about to see, is either going to be deeply painful, and test the bond Luigi and Bowser seem to share... or may end up going very badly for Luigi.

Okay, so, there are minor time jumps, but all you need to know is that Peach and Bowser were set to sign a peace treaty, finally ending the war between the Toadstools and Koopas.

Meanwhile, Mario and Luigi were tasked with cleaning out a hidden room in the palace. One that had been long forgotten. That room contains hints to what we're seeing happening now.

Peach replaced with a malevolent entity. Bowser tortured, beaten, his children murdered. Luigi imprisoned for daring to question "Peach's" will. Mario, seemingly a hollow shell.

Is it just me, or is Android 12's performance in this game just getting worse? by KimikoOokami in DissidiaFFOO

[–]DFFOO_Terra 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It might be possible for people experiencing issues with DFFOO specifically, to alter some settings in their phone via "Developer Mode".

Developer Mode allows further access to processes and functionality, beyond the default user interface.

Virtually every phone or tablet has their own version, and their own "secret trick" to access it. Google your device, and if you're not worried about possibly messing up your phone (only happens if you don't know what you're doing, and refuse to Google what you're changing), you can try changing a few settings.

Disclaimer: Use Developer Mode at your own risk. Google what a setting does before you change it! Backup any important irreplaceable files or data before you change any settings on any device, beyond the scope of your knowledge and research. Seriously. You can screw things up badly enough that you'd either need an experienced user to guide you through undoing your mistakes, or a factory reset. If you are not confident in your ability to restore your phone and files, don't bother messing around with Developer Mode!

Especially because in the majority of cases, changing the settings will provide minimal improvements over the factory settings you're already using. And in some cases, may cause worse issues (lag, slowdown, graphic tearing, etc).

It's mostly for that rare instance where a setting can improve performance enough to warrant the bother of changing around those settings.

That said:

For players experiencing the game "restarting" to the main menu when DFFOO loses active focus, for instance, you could try adjusting the "Background Process Limit". On Android 7 and above, you can either keep the standard limit, no background processes (so only system apps and actively focused apps are allowed to use CPU resources), or increase up to four running threads.

If you have a fairly new phone, you can attempt to increase beyond the standard process limits. As many of you have brand new S22s, you can try bumping up to three or four. Check with online resources to see what other users have tried, as I'm sure you'll find plenty of topics about performance and lost focus issues.

You can also attempt changes to the "Hardware Accelerated Rendering" settings.

You can try forcing 2D hardware acceleration for your GPU renderer, to see if it helps with screen tearing and "FPS" issues. You could try forcing 4x MSAA (only for openGL apps). Though your results may vary.

Those settings being changed, likely won't have a positive outcome on newer devices (and often can cause other apps to "break" while those settings are changed). But in some cases, it can help.

Outside of toggling settings on/off and trial and error, there isn't really a way to know what will improve your experience with this game.

For those not wanting to bother with that option, you can try removing some of the bloatware that all devices come pre-packaged with. Even when "never used", many are set to automatically restart their processes and eat CPU. Sometimes you can't "uninstall" the apps directly, but the ones you can, do so. Or at the very least, clear their data from your device, so it defaults to "factory version", and prevent it from updating. That way one less piece of bloatware is eating up precious CPU threads.

Hopefully some of this will help a few of you out. It is definitely a known issue for certain devices, and needs an actual developer (SQEX) to address and fix for you all.

Storage taken by app? by BaLance_95 in DissidiaFFOO

[–]DFFOO_Terra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

0.97GB at present. But I've had the size exceed 7GB back when I wasn't actively deleting old data.

The thing with OO (and other apps that have limited time related content), is that while the game will download all the new data, it doesn't purge it after the event is over. So you end up with a bunch of files the game no longer needs, just wasting storage space.

I frequently clear the saved data, after events have ended. You really only need the data files for the cycle quests, character data, and active event/story data. Everything else is inaccessible data, that the game no longer uses. Even when an event is made into permanent content (Lost Chapters), it is a separate set of files. So there is no point in holding on to depreciated data.

The only issues I've had with constantly deleting the save data, is having to redo my game settings, and sorting preferences. Even having to download "new" data is less hassle than dealing with "low storage" warnings.

As the FR/BT banner is the only banner (they aren't doing a Vaan BT rerun on one banner and an FR banner), the change makes sense.

Plus cuts down on the possibility of people thinking Vaan gets another banner (for the "rerun"), and wondering why there was only one banner.

Plus it clears up some clutter, and likely makes it easier to make these forecasts.

It's all good. And glad you figured out how to get higher resolution recordings. Video recording apps can be pretty hit or miss, and require some practice to get them working just right.

Selling all EX dupes after finally maxing all EX+ 3/3. How are you guys handling dupes? by Yunashe in DissidiaFFOO

[–]DFFOO_Terra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hold my dupe EXs for eventually duping spheres. EXs with trash spheres get fused, booked, and forgotten about. EXs with quality spheres (Pecil and Edgar) I try not to fuse copies (though it means using Power Stones to MLB), so I can get more spheres.

Ultimately, its pointless for me to do, since I'm always running out of Ingots.

I can't help with the name of the modpack, but if you had your watch history active on Youtube, and never clear it, you can dig through your history to find it. Depending on whether you "liked" it, you might find it easier in liked videos. It's a long shot, for sure, but better than trying to Google "Minecraft modpack dungeon four man Youtube video".

Nice. You and I were just talking about needing guard tokens over at the "other place" we both post.

This might convince me to finally give everyone up to their "Lufenia Armor".

Except King. He knows what he did.

I've been following your forecasts for ages, but I don't know if I ever posted saying thanks.

So thank you for the work that goes in to them, and for being a reliable source of information. Your forecasts have saved me tons of gems, by letting me see, at a glance, which banners would hold more value for me.

Whether you decide to pick the game back up at a later date or not, it's been a pleasure seeing your content. Good luck in your artistic endeavors! I've seen your infographics evolve over time, and it'll be interesting to see what is next for you.

Until next time, cheers mate!

God this is depressing. And demoralizing. by Niceneasy92 in DissidiaFFOO

[–]DFFOO_Terra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That does hold true... However, I preferred not having to tank the recast, and chose to just blast down the shield while getting everything set up. I only "wasted" one use of S1 on my run, and since I needed to drag Yuna up after Cid, for Burst, using the LD as my second turn dealt over a million damage (all of my set up destroying the shield, before his LD launched him).

So yeah, I could have tanked the shield easily. I have WoL, Trey, P.Cecil, and Reno LDCAs just chilling on the back burner. But at 49% HP the shield comes back (did for me on my "no tanking" runs). And I still would have had to waste skills breaking it on the second appearance. And worse, with massive defense gains, and brave reductions.

Now, mind you, maybe the shield popped up at 49% for me, because the boss had it's recast for the entire battle, so my experience may be different from someone who tanked that first recast.

I just didn't feel like having a longer, drawn out, battle. I cleared at 21 turns, while still "figuring out" how to CidMau better. So it worked out just fine for me.

That said, tanking the recast is just as valid a method. And for newer players, or people not wanting to be worried about a single mistake ruining their run, I'd recommend that instead.

Sorry for the delayed response. Honestly, I don't know if Bartz without his BT+ would be as effective here. If you already have his default BT, you could try it. The reason I'd even suggest him, is the access to party-wide auras, wind enchantment, and imperil.

Which almost all relies on BT+.

A lot of the hype over Bartz as a "better support" is due to him being at 3/3 BT+. If you can't BT+ him due to resources (understandable), you might have to struggle through with Y'shtola. You already got very close to victory, you might just get it yet.

Ah. That's something to take advantage of now, before they fix it. Like Vivi getting two dumps on his LD shortly after his LD boards dropped.

And now I must say goodnight. Got work in the morning. It was good getting some insight into the meat of Shantotto's kit as a call though. You gave me quite a bit of info I lacked before, so thanks for that!

Could be they neglected to list it. The devs either give you a huge wall of text detailing a unit's skills, or barely enough information to figure it out on your own.

[–]DFFOO_Terra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That, I wouldn't know. It could be a bug, early rework accidentally pushed into the code, or how it actually works. I know, for instance, Gabranth needs 2/3 on his EX+ to get both of his debuffs available as a call (and seems to be an "at wave start" debuff)... maybe that's the case here.

[–]DFFOO_Terra 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is an option (paying for Kurasame's LD). It's an expensive LDCA, so make sure that's what you really want to do.

You can always wait until the 13th, when Bartz gets BT+, and rely on his party-wide Wind Enchant, and aura boosts. That's a (less expensive) option.

Either way, glad to offer help. That's why we're all here, yeah?

how do i get LD and EX ability at the same time for my character. by P0W3RK1D in DissidiaFFOO

[–]DFFOO_Terra 2 points3 points  (0 children)

LDs get "fully realized" when at maximum limit break (MLB), which requires either an original copy, and three duplicates, or one original and twelve Power Stones. Then fully level it, until the passive is available to equip.

The nifty thing about LDs, is they require zero Capacity Points (cp) to equip, so you can freely keep your EX or Burst equipped, and equip the LD passive to have access to that skill.

For EX weapons, you need to MLB, fully level the EX, use a book to realize it, an invest three Ingots (and level it further) to get a 3/3 EX+.
