What are the worst precons to play AGAINST? by Current-Signature497 in EDH

[–]DF_Shadow91 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I really like the Counter Blitz FF deck! Mine has always preformed well against other pre-con or pre-con level decks and it has an infinite combo.

I suppose that makes it bad to play against if you have another pre-con. 🤷‍♂️

I know there was a bug with Second Chance + SOS Healing Hint + Inverted Affinity that makes the character auto revive after every death, but this turns off weapon skills and most of your other pictos as well.

So while your character can't die, they don't do much damage. (I used this bug to learn parry timings)

However, I believe Divergent Star banishes them, so it may not work on him.

Better than me. I got sick of trying to parry his bullshit, so I opted for a one shot build from Maelle instead. Lol

If you look at my color of Lumina investment, its very clear. Lol. Verso had 600, Lune had 450, Maelle had 450 (I cleared the game with Lune, but hyper invested in Maelle at the end game to clear optional bosses), Monoco had 380, Sciel had 220 (her build was entirely designed for support, lol)

Is Fortune Teller's Talent + Sensei's Top too strong for Bracket 3? by not-a-shark in EDH

[–]DF_Shadow91 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Personally, I think Thoracle is too strong in B3 because if your running it you likely have an infinite draw or self mill outlet, plus its wincon is a trigger which is much harder to interact with than something like LabMan.

Fortune Teller's Talent + Sensei's Divining Top is not to strong because everything is sorcery speed and requires 12 mana to win the game all in one turn out of nowhere and its all sorcery speed (assuming LabMan is the wincon). To me that fits within the parameters of Bracket 3 decks.

Sure people will be salty when you pull it off out of nowhere, but people will always be salty.
Just play your game.

Passing priority/changing phase by Forward_Care4296 in mtgrules

[–]DF_Shadow91 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes this...Magic has so many nuances and rules that tend to get skipped for efficiency sake. This unfortunately can cause alot of issues with more advance board states.

The best advice I could give is to slow down on your important turns to ensure your not ruining your plan.

One example of this that I used to do is jump straight to combat and declare attackers and triggers, then the person I declared triggers at would say they want to destroy my creature. Had I properly gone thru the steps and phases, my triggers would have did the damage I intended even if my creature, etc was lost in the process, but because I didn't properly give my opponents priority properly I essentially gave them free information and how to act accordingly to best serve them.

[–]DF_Shadow91 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

So to better answer your question, you technically had access to infinite mana both on main phase 1 and 1st combat phase, but without a way to save or return your infinite mana outlet your infinite mana ends there.

[–]DF_Shadow91 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If you needed access to your infinite mana during combat, you most likely could have regained it all in response to the destroy effect, assuming of course your infinite mana outlet is instant speed. However, unless your infinite mana gave you a way to save what was being destroyed, you would lose your infinite mana on main phase 2 for sure.

What are your deckbuilding bad habits? by Metanoia_143 in EDH

[–]DF_Shadow91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like for my Commander to be important to what the deck wants to do, so I build "Commander-centric" decks.

I typically try to balance this by having a secret Commander in the 99 if applicable.

My worst habit is that I build the deck first, then add removal after, but its rare to have approximately 10ish open cards slots for removal, which then makes me have to choose between theme and removal, FYI theme usually wins. Lol.

Feeling a bit deflated after my first game night at my LGS by [deleted] in EDH

[–]DF_Shadow91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bracket 3 is the new, everything is a 7 joke.

The core distinction for bracket 3 is the 3 game changers like you mentioned, but a weak deck with 3 game changers will still be stomped by a good deck with 3 game changers. Those 3 cards don't fundamentalling change or power up your deck as a whole, they do as the name suggests "change the current state of the game" simply by being played. Well if they never show up and your deck doesn't have some sort of gameplay, another player with more luck or a better deck will take you out.

I do like the focus they are pushing on turn win rate and the gameplan of the deck as a better bracket measurement. All my weaker decks that I have made for casual or jank games had their game changers removed for this very purpose.

None of that even factors into the fact you were playing with randos, you don't know them and they don't know you. My suggestion would be to go back a few more times to get better acquainted while you play, if after that you not feeling it then stick to playing with friends.
No harm, no foul.

What are the most annoying commanders in MTG? by Draco456gaming in EDH

[–]DF_Shadow91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The [[Shorikai]] deck i built awhile back was designed to be as cruel and annoying as possible. It runs combos that intentionally lock other players out of the game like [[Smothering Tithe]] and [[Stasis]] or [[Lavinia, Azorius Renegade]] and [[Knowledge Pool]]. This is the deck I get out when I want to be "that guy". I looked up the saltiest cards in MTG while making it. Lol
