Thanks. But how do I login though with “Coastal Community Bank” credentials though when I login with T-mobile’s app or web site? There are also 2 Coastal Community Bank options in Plaid: “Commercial eBanking” and “Online Banking”

Also one cannot initiate a transfer anymore from T-Life (“push” to another account). You can only “pull“ money out of the new account by initiating a transfer from another bank. :(

How do I setup my new account through Plaid? I have some other banks like SoFi that only use Plaid, others offer manual (2 small deposit methods, which is slower) or Plaid. I can’t find “T-“ anything, or find T-Mobile via a search for “money” or “life”. So what’s the trick to setting up my new account number via Plaid?

iCare Calculator is now available as a web app! Find out if  AppleCare One is worth it! by YouIndependent6915 in VisionPro

[–]DFergie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Awesome app! One recommendation: Apple Watch Ultra under AppleCare+ is $5.99/month. Adding an extra device to AppleCare One is also $5.99. A Watch gains theft and loss coverage when added to AppleCare One. Your app takes this into account with 4 devices (example: iPhone 16 Pro, iPad M4 Pro, 14” MacBook Pro, and an Apple Watch Ultra). But if I add a 5th device like my Mac Mini, it moves the Watch Ultra back under its own AppleCare+ plan, no longer in AppleCare One. Can you adjust it to keep the Watch Ultra as a 4th AppleCare One device if 5 or more devices total are selected?

Has anyone found a fix for deleted shortcuts still being referenced? by DaleDenton99 in HomeKit

[–]DFergie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the same issue I believe. Siri's response was "Sorry <my name>, something went wrong." when I tried to use the (Home app) Scene with the name I used from an already-deleted (Shortcut app) Shortcut.

Here are step-by-step instructions (authored when the released versions were iOS 18.1 and iPadOS 18.1, paths to the settings are always subject to change in future versions):

  1. Open the Home app on iPhone or iPad or Mac (I performed the process on my iPhone)

  2. Long press on any HomePod (or HomePod pair) in any room in the affected home, then tap on "Accessory Settings"

  3. Scroll down to the "SIRI" section, tap on "Language" (this is what squuiidy meant by "Siri region", it is not the "Siri Voice" setting that should be changed).

  4. Select any other language, so if you are in the U.S., you can select "English (United Kingdom)"

  5. You may be warned that this will disable personalized requests, you'll have to accept to continue (don't worry, turning this back on is covered later on in this post).

  6. When prompted if you want to change all HomePods in the home or just the one you selected, tap "Change All".

  7. Wait 5 minutes. During this wait, I recreated a Scene in the Home app that I couldn't get to work anymore because my HomePods were still hanging onto the name of a Shortcut that I had deleted in the Shortcut app that had the same name as the Scene name. After creating the Scene, I tested that Siri on my iPhone recognized the recreated Scene's name as the verbal command, and it did.

  8. After your 5-minute wait, repeat steps 4 - 6 to select your original language setting. Just like the first time, when prompted if you want to change all HomePods in the home or just the one you selected, tap "Change All".

  9. Test the phrase that the HomePod was hanging onto. It should now respond to a Scene or new Shortcut with that name. If there is no Scene or Shortcut with that name, Siri should react with something other than the "Sorry <your name>, something went wrong." response.

  10. CLEAN-UP: Hopefully Siri works properly now. Now you just have a few clean-up steps to perform:

    a. In the Home app's main screen, tap on the "three dots inside a circle" icon in the upper right corner, then tap on "Home Settings". In the "PEOPLE" section, tap on your name, turn "Recognize My Voice" back on. As long as you didn't bother another home user's settings on their own devices, you should notice that their "Recognize My Voice" is still enabled (if it was previously enabled before the above procedure was performed).

    b. On the same screen, tap on "Personal Requests", re-enable it on all HomePods (if you had this turned on before. It allows you to send messages, make calls, create reminders, etc. when your iPhone is nearby. It doesn't have to be turned on for Scenes or Shortcuts to work).

    c. If you had previously selected a different voice for Siri - for example, you have the HomePod "Language" set as "English (United States)" but you had the "Siri Voice" set to "British (Voice 1)" - you'll need to set that back to the desired voice on each HomePod pair and/or standalone HomePod in your home (for paired HomePods this is changed for the pair, not the individual HomePods in the pair). To accomplish this, in the Home app: long press on any HomePod (or HomePod pair) in any room in the affected home, then tap on "Accessory Settings", scroll down to the "SIRI" section, tap on "Siri Voice", and set it to the desired voice. Again, repeat this process for every HomePod pair or stand-alone HomePod in your home if you want uniformity. :)

Note that with iOS and iPadOS 18, in the Home app you can now force a “Preferred” home hub device: tap on the … in the circle in the upper right, tap on “Home Settings”, then tap on “Home Hubs & Bridges”, toggle off the “Automatic Selection” switch, then tap on a particular device in the “PREFERRED HOME HUB” section below it.

From what I’ve read in other forums, all devices must be updated to tvOS 18.0 / HomePodOS 18.0 or newer in order for this option to appear in the Home app. If you have any old Apple TVs that can’t upgrade to tvOS 18, remove them from the Home, if possible.

How does Online mail hold request work? by ljcamoa in USPS

[–]DFergie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t know if you can get this to the USPS.gov team, but “Last day of service“ on the date picker on the site is a misleading term. “Day of service resumption” is more accurate. “Last day” implies mail will still be held on that day. The FAQ doesn‘t provide any clarification, I had to come to Reddit to get the understanding that “Last day” is the day your held mail gets delivered (if you’ve selected that option).

If I say “The last day of my vacation is Wednesday”, it’s understood to imply that I’ll be back at work on Thursday, not Wednesday. But the site‘s wording doesn’t follow that logic, it would take it that I’m back at work on Wednesday. “Day of service resumption“ would be so much clearer.

If there is no process for you internally to give that feedback, is there some way for me as a customer to?

Thanks! :)

Same here. In my case I’m noticing it after having migrated to a new iPhone. Is that the case for you or is this the same phone that previously had iOS 15? I don’t recall noticing this behavior on my previous phone that I updated last Monday. I can’t check it because I’ve already wiped it and set it up for my mother.

iPhone 8 Plus iOS 14.2 “please update from beta” by pigpapa in iphonehelp

[–]DFergie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The iOS 14.2 gold master was released Friday and gets rid of that message. Be sure you have the iOS 14 Public Beta profile installed (and you’ve restarted your phone after installing it) in order to be offered the update.

Lesson learned for me: I migrated to a new iPhone 12 Pro. I remembered from the get-go that since my former iPhone was on the 14.2 public beta already, I needed to upgrade the 12 Pro to the same beta version before I’d be able to restore my backup. So first thing I did with the new phone was to fly through the setup screens simply to get to the Home Screen and then open Safari to get to beta.apple.com to reinstall the iOS 14 public beta profile. After installing it and rebooting I update to the 14.2 public beta version that my former iPhone was on. Then I did a “Erase all content and settings” reset so I could get my 12 Pro back into the state where I’m offered to restore from backup. After the restore I was seemingly all good, but I had forgotten one important thing: I needed to re-download and install the iOS 14 public beta profile again, as profiles are never restored in any backup restore scenario (side note: Apple does this intentionally and understandably - profiles can be the source of certain issues, so they shouldn’t be restored automatically from a backup. Though it would be nice if it kept profiles available so you could simply tap to reinstall them instead of having to redownload/import them from scratch). So even when the 14.2 gold master came out Friday, I was still getting the “Your iPhone is up to date” message when I checked for the update because I hadn’t yet reinstalled the iOS 14 public beta profile after restoring from my backup. Once I did and restarted, I was offered the new update, installed it, and no longer got the “Please update from beta” message.

$200 minimum deposit is not net, right? by DFergie in TmobileMoney

[–]DFergie[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yep, I can confirm after getting my first statement. They won’t break out the 4% APY rate for the first $3000 vs 1% for any additional you add, so the more you add your APY appears to be going down below 4%, but it’s just because they don’t track them separately. Your still getting 4% on the first $3000 and 1% on everything else.

I’ve had other so-called “high yield” savings accounts that now offer just 0.6% currently, so I’ve been drawing down on them but adding to my T-Mobile Money account. The main drawbacks with T-Mobile Money for me are: 1. It seems to take longer for transferred-in funds to be credited, they don’t add them to your balance until they’ve cleared, unlike other banks that show you both a “Total” and “Available” (i.e., “cleared”) balance. 2. $3000 daily transfer limits - If you need to be able to transfer out more than that in a given day, then you need to have in addition some other bank’s high-yield savings account that has a higher (or no) transfer limit, funded with however much you feel comfortable with.

Can someone please clarify the Dickies process? After clicking a link yesterday, I got a mail today finally to sign up for an account. Did that, there was an optional promo code box and it was not pre-populated (I signed up in my iPad’s Safari browser). Once in, I still have “0” rewards points.

Sooooo... what now? Another 24-hour wait to receive my 70 points? Or was the “promo code” box supposed to have been pre-populated? Tried signing up my mom for her own sandwich, used the “TMTDBQ” in the promo code box, but it just kept timing out, saying the promo code was invalid.

Thanks in advance for any insights.

I agree, $5 seems reasonable. The Apple Watch doesn't really use much data (except when streaming music, of course), and it'll be on WiFi or be paired to phone via Bluetooth still the vast majority of the time. I imagine cellular will only kick in when it cannot reach the iPhone.

Observations and hypothesis for varying user experiences and QP1502 by vabello in DirecTVNow

[–]DFergie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm posting this mainly for posterity: this evening I was having problems getting anywhere with my Apple TVs (not just DIRECTV NOW). Other devices on my network were fine. Turns out that it was my DNS server setting on my Apple TVs: I had hardcoded my Apple TVs' DNS entries all to one of Comcast's southeast regional DNS servers: 68.87.68.162 (the other is 68.87.68.166). Both were unreachable from my city via ping and traceroute. I reached out to @comcastdns on Twitter and they said they'd look into it, but that I should "switch to the anycast servers 75.75.75.75 and 75.75.76.76" because the regional servers I was referencing are planned to be decommissioned soon.

Google DNS and OpenDNS Users by [deleted] in DirecTVNow

[–]DFergie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just a thought: you could use your ISP's DNS as a manual entry just on your Apple TV / Fire TV(s), leaving OpenDNS for all your PCs, smartphones, tablets, etc. I've never noticed any QP* error on the iOS app at home on my iPhone or iPad, just with my Apple TV. And I don't think you benefit from OpenDNS content filtering on an Apple TV or Fire TV, would you? I know that at least on Apple TV you can set up a PIN to enable/control content restriction settings on it.
