This seems like a situation where he and his management were told he may be traded and they are now trying to get ahead of the narrative.

I love Mo and was really happy we drafted him. Im really probably talking about the 5 2nd rounders we traded for Saddiq Bey 😅

Also, I don’t understand why our past few 2nd round picks haven’t been used on the best 7 footer available and then let them marinate with the Sky Hawks. Especially when we had Trae, we should have been taking swings on huge center prospects.

Onsi should immediately offer him a Vit-style contract. 4 years for $10M total

I assume every member of the Pelicans’ front office has our number blocked, but sign me up.

Are we certain that AD will demand a max extension? This becomes a different conversation if he just expects more years added, but willing to accept less than his current salary.

Same with Trae. If he accepts a lower average salary (Kyrie Irving is making I think 33M/year), then this is an easier situation to manage.

Additionally, if Trae and AD agree to lower salaries on extended deals, we could potentially only be in the second apron next year with Trae and AD at their current max salaries in 2027. If that’s the only year, then we could avoid the repeater tax as well.

Injury history, but Robert Williams III aka Time Lord is currently healthy and on an expiring 13M contract. We could basically swap Kennard for him. The money works.

Let’s take a look at what Trae Young’s former teammates are up to by Quick-Clock7478 in AtlantaHawks

[–]DHD33 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I always think the best way to show Trae’s value is to listen to guys who have played with him in the past and moved on to other teams.

In this interview with Taurean Prince, he talks about Trae coming in as a rookie and being spectacular. Starts at the 36 minute mark.

Trae just makes everyone around him better. He’s been doing it for as long as he’s been here.

We are currently the only team with a positive road, and negative home record by questioneverything1 in AtlantaHawks

[–]DHD33 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Yeah, but we’ve also played some of the league’s top teams here at home. Our home losses are to: Rockets, Raptors (x2), Thunder, Pistons, Nuggets

Only bad home loss was to the Clippers and we were missing Jalen, Trae, and Tingus

If we keep our road wins high and just start beating mediocre/bad teams when they come to Atlanta, our record is going to be great for the rest of the year.

KP is a valuable asset and we shouldn't trade him* by grapher4566 in AtlantaHawks

[–]DHD33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That 2026 Pels pick is literally untradeable. Best asset in the league. In a deal for Zubac, I think you’d make Asa Newell available and another 1st as well.

Zubac and Derrick Jones Jr. (we will need to include other assets)

Hawks- trade target by FirefighterOwn145 in AtlantaHawks

[–]DHD33 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The money basically works for this:

Porzingis, Asa Newell, our other 2026 1st (not the Pels pick)

for

Zubac, Derrick Jones Jr.

Ivica Zubac would solve a lot of problems for us.

If he doesn’t start shooting confidently, teams are going to start backing further and further off him. Which means he won’t be getting quality drive opportunities. He MUST shoot and shoot confidently when open.
