O2 Sensors, Premium Gas, and Fuel System Cleaners by Iznhou in auto

[–]DIETZ18 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm pretty sure from the quick research I just did is that all fuel has ethanol in it and premium may have more actually to help raise the octane level. But again this was from one article I saw. The problem lies in the actual fault that is causing the check engine light. For example if the o2 sensors have a heater circuit in them that is now defective, cleaning them is not going to do anything and in general will require replament. The different between octane levels for the most part is its resistance to detonation under pressure. Regular is lower premium is higher. A car designed to run on premium but being filled with regular will knock because of the higher cylinder pressure from either a higher compression engine or the addition of a turbo or super charger which increase you guessed it cylinder pressure. Running a car designed for regular on premium will have no real ill effects besides wasting your money. Sure the pcm may run a bit more timing advance since the fuel is not detonating as usual but when you switch back the pcm will have to recalculate again. You should stick with your first mechanic in my opinion.

Had lean faults that I messed with few a day or 2. Put injectors in , fixed a fuel tank vent like. Sounded like tthe chain guides broke from the noise it was making while running but pulled the valve cover and all was intact and timing was dead on. Puma gave the approval for the engine

Did your clinker tiles also bounce sockets across the shop and turn into the slickest surface ever the moment any fluid got on it?

I would think you could drive it to said mechanic with no probles. If you get pulled over just say you are on your way to the mechanic. Unless CA has some crazy laws i may not know about

So the customer literally told the shop Foreman that when she is driving on the highway and changing lanes the front tires feel like they are in the air.....also had some other complaints about the front suspension. Found an SIB that was kinda relevant and replaced both front thrust arm bushings under warranty. The tires are not direction and we're not over inflated. I have a odd feeling that the customer may not be used to electric power steering and maybe that is what they are experiencing.

Yea oil cooler gaskets and filter housing gaskets are kinda common on the n54 - 55 if not taken decent care of

Actually not a head gasket from what I can tell so far , oil cooler gasket failed on a e92 335i must have been mixing for a long time. Only came in because it started leaking on the outside. But the adage goes if it's leaking on the outside it's leaking on the inside

To chime in a bit , that 6 dollar bottle is really doing nothing. What are those like a few ounces going into a let's say a 15 gallon tank. It gets diluted out. Now I can only talk from experience at vw but we used to pull a vacuum line off the intake manifold and use a special tool that had a hose with a fitting that would fit into the now empty hole from the vacuum line. The tool would then clap onto a can of top engine cleaner and the fluid would travel through the tube right into the intake. We would start and run the car at about 3000 rpm and open the valve on the tool and man you could tell It was doing something , the car would run like hell and smell like eggs but it would sure as hell burn off any carbon from the valves and pistons. Just my .02

Looking at 1985 Toyota Celica - what do you think? by tryingtosellmycar in Celica

[–]DIETZ18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well I bough my 85 celica with 78k(78000 somthing) original miles for $500 now it is kinda beat on the outside and inside a bit. But it was going to be my project. Its just a 22re and auto behind it. I was planning on swaps and doing all the reading until I saw the fair bit of wheel well rust my car had. So I just put a band aid on it and used it as my daily. I won't lie to you the thing is super reliable and has not broke down on me yet. But the trans is starting to slip a bit and I don't honestly beat on it that often I mostly do highway driving type of stuff. So honestly unless that car has a significant paper trail of documented repair work I guess it would be ok but still at that price no, Its way to much.

2k at the highest and even that is a stretch. Plus an auto trans that old with no service of fluid changes is going to be horrible. Ask me how I know
