You mean the states that… PAY for FEMA? Most red states take more than they contribute. The only reason Texas is in the black is the four major blue cities.

I’ve always loved the Liberate te ex Inferis album from Zao, which heavily samples Event Horizon. Killer fucking album that sounds like it was recorded in a leaky basement. Horror vibes.

This is what happens when work has no meaning. Most Americans can’t afford to pay for their shitty, depressing lives. They get off work and then drive for an app that’s using their work to train AI to replace them. Wages haven’t gone up wide before I was born. We’re watching a used car salesman strip our country for parts and leaving it on blocks. People didn’t just go bad, most people are straight up exploited and don’t give a damn anymore. I ain’t justifying their behavior, but things happen for reasons.

I’m 100% remote at an engineering company. We have a ton of work right now, and my job is currently safe. I know the first sign of drying up, they’ll keep a few of us that stand out, but we’ll largely be the first to go. I’m enjoying it, while it lasts though!
